I was able to rescue 28 of 30 of the potted plants, so I'll keep an eye on them and replant as needed. Weather takes a turn for the cool starting tomorrow, so I have a load of firewood scheduled for delivery on Monday; stacking included in the price👍 I'll put the cover back on the greenhouse rack and leave the front open until we get into those 40^o nights. The container garden plants are looking perky! I need to add some more soil to the grow bags, but I have plenty.

I agree about the whole house gen, and I think we may have the money left from the grant to do it.

as far as the gen goes, make sure you start it weekly/monthly. I know one guy who thought he would and did for a few months....but...time went by and he forgot and when he needed it it did not start. I believe they make them now that they automatically have a time where they start. It they do, I think I would add that as an option. just my two copper clads....

Agreed on starting the generator monthly - that's what we do with our gas gen. Husband wanted to know where we would get propane if/when TSHTF. Told him we will still have the gas generator if it comes to that - solar means battery maintenance and "Who's going to do that?"

Plants looking perky, even the ones that got knocked over by Nicole. I had to extricate a cauliflower sprout from a pot with carrot sprouts🙄 No harm, no foul...

Seeing weeds making a comeback in the containers that were solarized, so I guess after today's firewood delivery, I'll have to make an appointment with the containers and my weed bag😂

Funny, after Ian we had a few weeds pop up, but after Nicole the weeds exploded in growth.

Will be harvesting probably the last Kale today....most tomato plants are done...still have a couple with Romas though. Will likely get out there soon and start sterilizing the old soil.....

Question, my neighbors have a tilapia farm. They have offer me the "poop" water for my garden to use as fertilizer. Any ideas on this? If I use it how do I rate the NPK? I have to do some research on this as it would be free....

No time for garden today except to uncover my seedlings on the greenhouse rack. Just another crazy day of phone calls, making appointments with contractors, etc. It rained, so everybody got watered😂

Isn't it funny how you sometimes are grateful for the rain to water the plants, not because of the nice rain, but because you have a bunch to do and just don't have the time or energy...

Exactly! The irrigation system ran last night, so the plants got watered with no intervention from me. Good thing, because we were on the road to hither and yon for half the day. I need to go get gas and groceries tomorrow!

Another got-nothing-done-in-the-garden day; technician here all morning installing equipment for husband, then off to our phone carrier to get new sim cards as suggested by Samsung. Almost all of our incoming calls have been going directly to voicemail instead of ringing into the phones since Nicole blew through. If new sim cards don't take care of the issue, then it's new phones.$$$

Was able to get all but a few tomato plant grow bags (some have a couple tomatoes left hanging on) set up to sterilize the soil. Cleaning up the yard, hence garden, as sone and his girlfriend is coming into town Monday for a week. So lots of meal planning/preps, yard cleaning...little stuff, and hours tidying up. Plus my Dad was in hospital for two weeks and now in rehab facility to get stronger, so I have been dealing with that as well.

All I did yesterday was to go out after dinner and cover everything with frost blankets, since the temps went into the high 30s last night. Now I'll go uncover it all. I need to do some weeding and try to consolidate the containers, since it looks like we'll be losing some of that garden space for a new egress door from the bedroom....I'll shovel out the existing soil into the containers that will be staying, then move the empty containers to the bag garden.

No gardening - too cold and nasty! I spent yesterday setting up our 2 new cell phones (about 8 or 9 hours worth with all the updates etc), and today the new automatic door opener was installed - 3 hours with the door open and afterward I started the propane heater, the ceramic heater, and built a fire for good measure. One more night of covering the gardens (I hope), and then back to semi-normal. My seedlings want to be transplanted!

Thanksgiving's over, the Christmas tree is up but sans ornaments, and I'm ready to get back to gardening!

Sorry, been busy with family in town. We have our little Charlie Brown tree up. We decided a few years ago that we do not need a big tree. Family leaves Monday afternoon, so the grind will start back up. Had a few minutes to check in here...lots of cooking and hosting going on at our house....

Last year I bought a small tree, about 4' including the stand. This replaces my 7' tree that I just bought 3 years ago. It takes up too much room and I need to keep walking paths clear. This little baby does the trick, tucked neatly between the console and the fireplace.

Finally!! All of my seedlings are transplanted - had 37 of them. I did some in grow bags and some in the container garden. While I'm likely to lose the container garden area when construction on the addition starts, I think I've got enough time to grow the plants that I added. I'm only using 4 of 8 containers, and plan to offload the soil and move the other 4 containers to the grow bag garden. I should have plenty of room there since I'm not growing 35+ tomato plants in the spring.

I harvested some turnips after I got done planting and noticed that I've got 8 tiny beefsteak tomatoes in the bag garden - so cute!
