I had a Beretta 92sbf that I recently sold to buy a chainsaw. It was reliable but as others have said it has a large grip and overall a large pistol making it kinda hard to conceal if that matters to you.

I like Glocks but right now I carry an XD.45c. The biggest drawback to Glocks is that they have a tendency to multiply. ;)

I swear by Ruger P-95 de****er. It is reliable, inexpensive, simple to field strip and accurate. trigger pull in single action is only a couple of ounces.

I rather like the 9MM round. With good bullets, or even with FMJ, it is effective.

No way have I looked at every brand on the market, but I have several pistols in that caliber. Three Browning HP, a Beretta 9000S, and a dandy little CZ 75D PCR.

Well all, we went to the gun show today and bought the Mrs her 9mm Christmas present.

Unfortunately after going through all the vendor tables, no surprise they were all (except one) all overpriced.
The one vendor we did find that had prices close to the msrp was the only one selling guns like hotcakes.
Unfortunately, the only 9mm's they had were Springfield XDM, Glock (New & Used), Sig, Ruger, Bersa, and Hipoint.

To give you guys an idea of how the majority of the vendors were trying to rip people off, one vendor was selling a 9mm Hipoint (new) for $350.
One vendor was selling ONLY used guns, and the cheapest used Glock 9mm was $500.

The vendor we went with, had the same Glock but new, for $550.
Their Hipoints (although I hate this gun) all calibers for (new) $179.

NOBODY, had any CZs at all (I was shocked).

So after the Mrs. handled all the 9mm handguns, I was shocked, she picked the Springfield XDM. But then I thought back, that is the one she bought me for Christmas five years ago. Although mine is a .45, and the salesman told her the latest fade was two-tone guns. So I have a black upper (slide) and a "dirt" color lower. I hate how salesman spew BS to women when they are buying stuff. But being the good husband, I told her I loved the model she picked. Which I do, but HATE the two-tone thing. YUCK! As my youngest daughter would say.

Other than that, the gun show was "on par" unfortunately. Seems the convention center weekends expos are really getting pretty lousy here. They actually had more non-gun vendors than they had gun vendors. Well maybe not, but it seemed like it.

I also bought me a really nice holster "mounting" system to mount my gun in my truck. I like it alot! Puts the gun and a much more accesible location. If I could only get my wife to do the Concealed Permit class, I would mount another holster on the passenger side... :)

We loaded her clips (hehehe) to 15rds (although max is 19) and we compared the weight of her 9mm with 15rds compared to my XD in .45 with 10rds. She was shocked how much heavier mine still was even though it only had 10 rds instead of 15.

            :)

Hope everybody is having a great Saturday!

Oh one vendor had a bunch of anti-obama bumper stickers, so I thought I would share three of them that I can remember with you.

"If Obama is the answer, it must have been a really dumb question."

"How's that Hope and Change working out for you?"

"Only taxpayers should be allowed to vote" (this one had the Don't Tread On Me logo, with the snake on the side)

I have several 9mm handguns, and often carry one of them. With modern bullets, they are quite effective.
My favorite would be one of my Browning Hi Powers. After that, and probably the one that gets the most carry time, is a CZ 75D PCR compact. For pocket carry, I have a nice Beretta 9000S.

9mm is half a 357. Get her a small Smith and Wesson double action revolver and some moon clips.

I love my glock 19. Accurate, easily concealed. My major sticking point when recommending this gun is the safety. If I draw my gun its to shoot whatever I felt was a threat, so not having to worry about switching a safety off/on is a peace of mind to me. Last thing I want is to pull the trigger and not hear a boom. That exact thing happened to me before and it cost me to miss a chance at bagging a nice 6 point; in all my excitment I didnt realize I never switched the safety and couldnt get a shot off. No big deal in that situation but I would hate for that to happen if my life or a loved ones depended on it.

Browning Hi-Power, because it shoots to my point of aim.

I'm very pleased with my Ruger SR9 9mm pistol that I bought recently. The gun is very solid and very well crafted. It fires very well and is extremely accurate. On top of that Veridian Green Lasers has a special Green Laser System specifically designed for the Ruger SR9 that fits on it's accessory rail and is extremely nice. With Ruger you get a gun Made in The U.S.A. and extremely nice, courteous, professional customer service that is, you guessed it based here in the U.S. That being said my next pistol is the Sig Sauer .40 cal. You can't beat Sig Sauer's ruggedness and proven track record.

As a NRA certified basic pistol instructor teaching concelled carry and advanced tactical training, also owning 13 different pistols, this question comes up many times in my classes. I am also a factory certified Glock armorer.
My answer is always the same: What is the intended use? Does the pstol fit you ergonomicaly? Can you shoot it it accurately? Is it 100 percent dependable? Does it have a good trigger? How does it perform or stand up under adverse conditions? Will you or can you carry it every day?...as a pistol will not do you any good in safe.
Glock pistols have proven themselves many times over. But that does not mean I always recomend a Glock for each individual. I would have liked to have my wife carry a Glock 19 but it doesn't fit her hand. I ended up getting her a Springfield EMP 9mm. I could have bought 2 Glocks for the price of the EMP but she just couldn't shoot a Glock. I had one individual in one of my classes who's index finger would not bend and he had to use his middle finger on the trigger. A Smith and Wesson M&P which has a pronounced beaver tail and smaller grip (the grip comes with three different backstraps) fit him well so he was able to it accurately.
When I wake up in the morning and get dressed my pistol goes on my side and doesn't come off until I go to bed. I conceal carry eather a full size 1911 Wilson Combat .45, Gock 17, or a Glock 19.
What ever you get learn how to shoot it accurately. Under stress you'll only be able to shoot half as good as you do at the range.

I own and use several different 9mm pistols. The one that gets the most carry time is a CZ 75D PCR compact. Second is probably the Beretta 9000S, another compact.
The ones I like the most though, are the Browning HP pistols, but they are a bit large to carry on a pocket.

I haven't owned an automatic until recently and when shopping I kept my wife in mind, size, weight. We tried a couple different calibers and the 9mm was the one she was most able to operate the 'slide'. It felt more comfortable for her to manipulate the action when we were there in front of the booth and I felt that if she couldn't operate the gun to even chamber a bullet then there was no use to get her one.
Talking to a long time hand gun owner he said that gun handling is also something to be practiced and gotten use to..things become easier with use...

We purchased them at different times due to finances but I have the Ruger P95 (the "brick") and the wife owns a Taurus pt 709 slim.
A desire changes nothing, a decision changes some thing's, but determination changes everything.

I personally own a Smith and Wesson .40 Sigma. 9mm ammo was a bit difficult to find when I bought it so I opted for the .40.

Stand next to me and you'll never stand alone.
