I am glad to hear I was not the only one who could not make it through the entire show. The show lost me as soon as the "news reporter" said "gun violence was on the rise". In the show, the violence was caused by those who were not prepared. We saw the same violence erupt in real life in the wake of Katrina and it was instigated by those who were not prepared. Plain and simple. I will agree the show would be more of an eye opener for those not already of the prepping mindset but there was very little that anybody already involved in prepping would find useful. I will offer this bit of advice... do not doubt for one moment that the number of stupid people out there is small. IMO, anybody not currently involved in prepping is inflicted with a severe case of willful stupidity.

BTW, deer hunting update... I passed up on spikes on both Friday and Sunday.

To me it seems certain that the fatalistic teachings of Mohammed and the utter degradation of women is the outstanding cause for the arrested development of the Arab. He is exactly what he was around the year 700, while we have kept on developing. Here, I think, is a text for some eloquent sermon on the virtues of Christianity." - General George S. One news reporter said they were only able to broadcast because of backup generators.

Its actually called normalcy bias, people think that because it hasn't happened to them it can't/won't happen to them....or even when the flood waters come in through their doors they just go up to the 2nd floor saying to themselves that everything is fine.

Did you all for get about the penthouse couple? A can of Peaches.... WOW.. Or what about the "prepper" going outside alone to defend his fuel? And what about the kid alone when he hears a noise downstairs. Deep down inside I was hoping for a walker to jump out and eat him. Opps wrong show...

Over all lets say my TV remote back button is now wore out, Was hoping for something more.

Well, I did watch it and I got my wife to watch the replay directly afterward. Although several of the events seemed staged and the charters were stereotypical; it allowed me to get the wife to focus on the “what if”. So maybe I’m not so nutty to have all that food in the pantry and all that water in the garage afterall. Perhaps to many who frequent this site (and other sites like it) the show was silly and unrealistic, but to the uninformed perhaps it planted a seed. We can only hope that a few more sheep saw the light.

rvans if it got some out their to re-think the "It can't happen to me', mentality that will be good. Glad it may have given your wife a new look.
I talked about it to several non prepper friends and they said it was though provoking but a bit hikey.
Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

I've heard of the term but I still think it is a nice way of saying willfully stupid. After events like 9/11 and hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Sandy people who refuse to acknowledge the need for being prepared stretch the limits of my compassion and understanding.

                      True.

Most people I meet and know think that a credit card and a cell phone will get them out of all issues. Some I have meet think that a 4x4, a gun and one friend in the country will solve any issues.

I make sure I moderate my conversation with these people.

Preparedness is more than a credit card, a working internet connection and a gun.

I think about the catch phrases in life "life is chess not checkers"; but that doesn't even cover it. Hell there is a group of people that don't even know the different between chess and checkers. So how can they relate between thinking one move ahead and multiple moves ahead; everything is, "I want it "NOW".

My sister and her husband live in San Franpsycho and do you think they prepare or stock up for the next earthquake?!?! Not a chance! I gave them 2 five gallon buckets of emergency food for Christmas a while back. They thought I was nuts. Oh well! I pray for their sakes that "the big one" doesn't hit but if it does they will have only themselves to blame for not being prepared.

As the old saying goes, "you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink."

My wife said some ladies at her work were talking about the show and decided they aren't prepared for an event like that or even a strom. I say this show is probably doing some good.

Even down here.hurricane hits...all is crazy. The same folks who struggle run out buy a generator ....tarps etc....then five months later sell them due to them taking up space. If it gets one person out of a hundred to keep prepping its worked....only tine will tell

This sounds like a great opportunity to stop by their home when they have a garage sale to get a great deal on a generator.....
