Tightening up a new goat pasture, added a small building there for them and put in a gutter to drain to a catchment barrel for more water sources for them. Began ripping down an old chicken shed to be rebuilt with new and longer lasting materials. Tilled between rows in the garden. Renovating an old part of the house, gutted the bathroom there and re did that. Been clearing property lines for a new fence, need to get back to that.

see above... "brought my mother"
here's one example of why...
on her first trip through the garden... she stops and says.. see those beans and peas... they are a little yellow ( they looked green to me!)
i correctly responded "i do"
"then why don't you add some fertilizer, 10-10-10 would work just fine." she proceeded to advise..
we added the fertilizer on tuesday.. as instructed.. and today, thursday, the plants are dark green and are standing tall...
it is amazing how they could change so much in 2 days!!
another moral to the story.
several years ago mom entered an assisted living home. during that time, i began to wonder how this would change my plan to go get her and my dad, if there were any s htf. and what other preps should we be making with their medical conditions.
i posted that question on another web site... most comments were constructive. one AH posted proudly, that if the shtf, "i should go shoot them in the head."
i took offense, and he get energetically defensive as this was proper procedure in that situation. the AH was then a popular poster on that website and still is...
guys and gals, this older generation has a lot to share. my dad has since died. my mom has lived alone for over 5 years now, since she left the assisted living home.
the good news is.. we've all got a list of folks that ain't welcome anywhere near our campsite. you can guess one of the ones that are near the top of the list! isn't it nice to know things about folks.

This week was a bit easier for us. We inventoried the food storage, added to the food storage, bought a bit more ammo, added 45 more broilers to the flock, attended the self defense class, bought a training knife, went shooting at the range, got to help at a rollover accident last night, started reading "The Shootest" and worked in the garden.

attended combatives, bought enough ammo to take the Daughter and boyfriend out shooting next clear weather day. If he's gonna hang around I just as well teach him to shoot and be useful LOL. Ordered another cree flashlight. The guy at work who I've been working with went and bought a fire starter and we have been working on natural tender, so working on changing a sheeple. He's starting a go bag.Knowledge is Power, Practiced Knowledge is Strength, Tested Knowledge is Confidence

One week ago tonight, I made a decision to get myself in shape. I am rapidly approaching middle age (some would say I'm already there) and I am terribly overweight (have been most of my life). So, last Friday morn, I started meeting with a few guys on M,W,F mornings to change that. Most of you have NO idea how hard it is after all these years of doing nothing... this is the best thing I can do at this point to increase my preparedness.

added more spices to storage, bought fuel hand transfer pump, sold one gun that was an odd caliber compare to other ones I have, then used that money to buy a new gun in same caliber as I have. upgraded the water bladder in my bag to a 3L.Whats the point of having and not knowing how to use? You dont have a car and not know how to drive it do you? Having the tools for the job is worthless with out the knowledge of how to use it!

There is a thread here on the forums about cutting weight, forget the name of it, but it goes over the simple math formula for weight lose. Don't get hung up on "I can only eat this type of food" or any of that, just keep your NUMBERS where they should be and the weight will come off. My last 50 came off in about 4 months.www.homesteadingandsurvival.com

Cleared brush back from are closest to house. Have finally built two raised vegetable beds and removed all the flowers from in front of the house to plant vegetables there instead. We moved and this is new place. Have lost 30 pounds in three months and am working on the 70 additional I want to lose.

So often people look at it as a "diet" and a short term thing. So they drop some weight eating rice cakes, then go "we'll I deserve to have a chocolate cake now." Pretty soon you "deserve" to have such and such, and your back to square one.
When you make new habits, they tend to stick.www.homesteadingandsurvival.com

Dry firing before bed, 7 miles on the bike, 1 -1/2 on the treadmill, 20 minutes on some sort of skiing/torture machine(four times a week), eradicated some snakes and turtles out of the fish pond, paired up the buck and doe bunnies, harvested squash and some potatoes.אני אעמוד עם ישו וישראל

Made some great char cloth from a cotton rope 1/2 " diameter that my wife found at a craft store. It lights like any I've ever used, but seems to me that I didn't use as much as I do with old tee shirts. Got my granddaughter striking sparks, she loves it. drove a new route out of the small (for Kalifornistan) city I live in. Explored side roads and saved GPS coordinates of a couple decent lay over locations to update my hard copy maps with. Its mind boggling the number of things to consider when doing a exercise like this. You need to look at it not only from your car window but as if you are taking the route on foot or bike also. Makes no sense to place caches or locate hides based on only car travel. What if your on foot??
