  • what did you do for preparedness/survival this week?

    guys,
i thought we had a thread on this question, but couldn't find it. if this is a duplicate, let me know and i'll delete.

so, i pose the question. what did you DO today? or this week? (if you haven't been on the site in a few days!!) to prepare or help your family survive a disaster/crisis/war/economic collapse, etc...?

yesterday, i'm practicing my fishing skills. they were dormant! ran out of bait. the guy with me looked around and pulled a small red strawberry looking fruit out of a tree and landed a nice bream. worked for me too. i learned the fish liked the red berries that grow by the water and they are free and easy to get!!

the 4.95 sprinkler from walmart, that we are using in the garden is a piece of junk. i need to buy better quality tools.

what'd you do or learn today?

    This week:

taught some fire starting skills to another guy I work with. walked in friday afternoon on some down time to find him reading outdoor survival skills stuff on the computer and engaged in some deep conversation

    ordered some parts

got my eyes reopened to where I stand in life with people, reflected and decided that I am fine and that there are differences and there are reasons why I do what I do and they don't

worked out hard 3 times this week on some new routines and finally conceded that some routines are out of my aging grasp but that I must maintain intensity thru different things

purchased small quantities of ammo as it came available

got a camo set of raingear in near new condition from a garage sale

Building more furniture to save money. ( and have better built and better quality). I am starting to get the hang of this......if I could only build a wooden MBR.....hmmmmmmm.
Learning these wood working skills is coming in handy. In the PAW, tools may not be available, but patience may be. Thats all it takes.

Downsizing "stuff" to account for extra storage space for preparatories. Gonna be nice to not have to hide things anymore because of space restraints..

The most important thing is we got our closing date schedule on our new homestead purchase. 4 acres with endless water and woods.
Thank the lord for lighting the fire under the butts of the IRS. 2 weeks and it begins...........

Next time we think working out is too hard, cutting back on what we eat is inconvenient, learning new skills too time consuming or practicing shooting too costly, think of this guy-

Work on fighting skills, worked out, shapened knives, rotated and updated food/water stock.
Whats the point of having and not knowing how to use? You dont have a car and not know how to drive it do you? Having the tools for the job is worthless with out the knowledge of how to use it!

started cutting dome of my massive bushes around the house and collecting some firewood at the same time. Getting old gear separated out to get rid of. Starting to get my BOB set up for summertime use. And rotating gas stock

                  we've had drought.
neighbors pond and a creek near me have been dry.
this year 3 months with water so far.
caught fish for pond and creek..
praying the rains continue. having protein growing
                  nearby would be a benefit.

Bought a few essential oils, trained with weapons, signed up for a combatives class, fenced off more of our property, weaned the calves, bought 8 new pullets to add to my flock of chickens, read some more about essential oils as well as herbs, worked in the garden, worked the bee hives, bought another book on herbs, worked on my hydroponics project, planted a few more trees, ordered some stuff. I think that's everything for this week.

MIO and Okies, you guys are All In. I like that. Good work!

I sprayed our fruit trees, sprayed the road and fences, plowed the garden, built a makeshift grape arbor and went crawfishing.

My wife went to a beginner's pistol class with my sister and sister in law.

Not a great weekend as far as lots of work done but we had a good time taking it easy Sunday and goofing off in the rain.

Prepared garden beds, planted potatoes, fertilized the rhubarb, perennial veggie beds with water and fish emulsion, worked overtime to pay off debt.
