  • Your thoughts on the election period

    Not so much a "who to vote for" deal, I assume everyone knows we have to do what we have to do....

    However what's your thoughts on the time period around the election? Think their will be "riots" if Zero loses? What will be the result?

    I hear a LOT of good ole boys, church folks, everyday people- white, black and hispanic saying they are expecting riots and are planning for it.

    This crowd is now more than used to getting what they want when they make a ruckus. Will that work for them, or against them in this?

    What are you expecting, what plans are you making, will you take that day or that week off?

      I expect it to be a repeat of 2000 when several recounts happened. Just guessing it's going to be close in several States (probably since it takes a lot of time to count all those graveyard votes) and we won't know exactly who won for several days/weeks just like last time.

      In the end though, I feel there will be trouble depending on the outcome. I mean, c'mon, the free Obamaphones are going to get cut off and someone's going to have to start trouble over that. Can't work for a living and pay bills like the rest of us, gots to get mine.

      Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to take off from work.
      Experience is a cruel teacher, gives the exam first and then the lesson.

        I don't see much happening around the election period itself. I think, if the unrest/riots are to occur, it'll be if/when Washington starts cutting entitlements. That won't happen right away. We'd have to have a fiscally conservative Congress and president in place first and the bills would still take a year or so to get through the red tape.

        Now, if things go the other way and tighter gun controls and/or the present approach of apologizing for the actions of individual U.S. citizens continues it would take a pretty significant event to trigger the reactions.

        Baring either of these two happening, I agree with Will. I see a slow and quiet decline if we simply stay on the current track and the politicians can find sufficient means to keep the American public distracted. Sooner or later we'll be in a similar situation as Greece and Spain, but I don't see that happening for a while. The financial power brokers will prop up the economy as long as they can with what cash reserves they're willing to spend.

        I know this sounds pretty pessimistic, but this is the third recession I've been through and I don't see anything on the horizon to turn it around. I hope and pray I'm wrong and am still preparing with the best balance between preps and COLMOLLIN I can muster. Prepare for the worst and not only hope for the best, prepare for it also and try to make it happen.

        I WILL vote and I WILL keep trying to make my voicee heard in Washington AND my local community.

          It's the time of year when I review what's in my BOB, and time to rotate some food supplies too. I'll be expecting trouble, so I'll be bringing my rifle to work, and three magazines, in addtion to my pistol and spare mags. I'll be making sure I can "go Trayvon" (ie, wear a grey hoody and walk fast) if necessary. Whatever else I do will be in the AAR :)

            I would not be suprised is there are riots. I have an early class that day, and I will probably go to it, but I should be home well before noon. I don't think there will be riots in my little town, or really, even in my county, but who knows. I'm sure there are some jerks out there just looking for a reason.

            Depending on who wins, I think the difference will be like the differences between OWS and a Tea Party Rally.

              I expect it to be a major cluster ****.
              I am sure the media will be a major pain in the hind quarters as well.
              The only attention I will pay it is when I actually vote.

              The rest of the time will be spent in the woods. It is hunting season here in NY and I wont be anywhere near any riot. I will be out where God intended men to be. Killing critters to feed his family. I have enough tags to stuff two freezers full of meat.
              Time not spent in the woods will be spent at the station. Fall brings a change around in the set up of apparatus (gear, tires, water, etc.) and PPE so that needs to be completed by mid November.

              The only concern I have at this point is the erosion of personal liberty in this country. I have withdrawn to the point where my whole world is about 233 acres of true American soil. I dont care what goes on out there anymore because I know darned well you nor I can change a single thing. Vote and pray, defend what is yours and what you are charged to protect. Prepare and train, read, then train some more.

                I will wake up the next day (hopefully after a zero loss) go to work and talk about it and listen to zero lovers complain on Facebook all day
                Then I will realize that we will be a couple of weeks away from The new Red Dawn and the Ga camp out and then onward to turkey day and Christmas.

                I honestly don't think any groups have the balls to start major riots. Maybe some OWS type but nothing to make you walk home with your MBR

                  I'm not a Romney fan but I'm voting for him because if BO wins another term I'd guess about one year into his next term we may well collapse. At the same time I think that about the only thing Romney can do is possibly slow down the inevitable problems that we can't avoid due to the corruption that has overtaken our government. It will simply give us more time to prepare.

                  At this moment, barring some radical "event" manufactured by BO, I think Romney will win. No candidate running above 50% at this point has ever lost against an incumbent, Romney is 6% ahead overall, internal polling in all the swing states is terrible for BO's campaign and they've pulled out of several states they won in 08 because they know they've lost them this time.

                  BO's comapaign has pulled out of NC, VA, FL and MO. Romney and BO are in a statistical tie in WI, OH, NJ (who'd a thought NJ) and PA. The internals in all of these states are terrible for BO.

                  Having said this if Romney wins be prepared for inflation. We've experienced overall inflation over the last 2.5 years of approxiamately 21% (this includes food and energy). What's coming will only make it worse. If Romney wins the markets will breathe a sigh of relief, and rightfully so, but worldwide confidence in U.S. markets will encourage a massive inflow of cash into our economy and when U.s. banks start releasing the massive amounts of cash they've been sitting on the last three years (trying to stay liquid) the value of our dollar will quickly drop and, "presto!", hyper-inflation. We had a similar experience when Reagan took office in 1980. It lasted for two years. The problem now is that Romney is not a Reagan conservative, his policies are nothing like Reagan's, we have a completely different culture and world situation to deal with than when Reagan was in office, and a congress that is vastly corrupt and out of control.

                    Hey all, been offline a LOOOONG time, school and work have kept me quite busy the last 6+ months.

                    I actually think that there is going to be some HUGE, I mean more than normal, voter fraud going on and O is going to win by a hair. Just have a bad feeling, especially after the last debate when he mentioned re-enacting a BAN on assault weapons... :(

                          tough but very good questions..

                          riots...obama wins no. repulican type folks not inclined to riot.
                          romney wins.. yes. but not "burn down the city" though there will be rabble rousers, communists, hate filled
                          obama supporters that will be preaching burn it down.
                          i think a lot of police, military, local citizens will be watchful and awake during/after the election and will try to control it before riots get out of hand.

                          expecting? if obama wins.. fast decline of economy if not worse. more exec. decisions. more govt give aways.
                          more rewards to obama support groups. bad foreign policy. more kiss up to the muslims.
                          more legislation that is pro homosexual, pro abortion, anti military, anti conservative issues.
                          increased persecution of Christians, increased rejection of israel
                          if romney wins.. efforts to stem the economy fall, but the hole we are in is deep.
                          there will be positive reaction in the business place if romney wins.
                          either wins... high inflation..

                          there is a chance of major event just before election. i sure hope not.. but suggesting odds of 10% that major event
                          hits country... resulting in ?? challenge to america, with opportunities for opportunistic politicians..

                          doing... i'm organizing a sportsman swap meet of locals. hoping to use this to help bring folks together..
                          and a buying/prepping opportunity. a few of you guys know me and where i live. if you might be in my area between now and election, holler if you are interested in attending the swap meet.
                          changing churches.. encouraging locals to pray/worship/study privately and small groups.
                          talked with 2 solar installers at large regional farm show. trying to get a handle on solar power, making financial
                          arrangements for solar and extra water source. .
                          setting up living quarters in a barn. purchased a used safe. meeting neighbors. helping set up a mobile kitchen.
                          supporting NRA and FNRA standing proudly with romney, and a disputed us House of rep. election.
                          example: distributing political yard signs at every opportunity at my expense. increasing fruit trees and varieties.
                          trying to have reasonable discussions with supporters of third party supporters, to get them to vote for my man. some are bragging they may change from third party to obama.....

                          praying for guidance... got some today.. it was unpleasant... but got some guidance and direction..
                          long term good and beneficial... short term is painful.

                          just heard that a local rich man is liquidating many holdings and making plans to move off shore... i'm trying to find out the "why"
                          unable to find out so far... he circulates in different circles than me!!

                            Grand hit a goodpoint. About 4 weeks ago. They had a blurb on the AM news down here about the "machines" and how it may effect the election outcome for our state ( florida), Now,,did they jump the shark on that story or what!

                            Riots. I dont think we'll see any LA style deals. We may see some OWS hippy protest stuff or we may see a few small isolated riots in some spots but nothing nationwide,.
                            What may happen is a massive fraud,recount,postponement of when O stays or leaves office. I dont see him or his cronies just handing over t he keys to the fun machine so easily.

                            Either way me and mine will have a talk about where to meet,what to do and will more than likely refresh the bags and preps.
                            I just hope they dont burn down any movie places cuz like wiseowl said reddawn...is coming out...but then agian how fitting if things are delayed LOL

                              I'm at the point that I really don't think it's going to make a dime's bit of difference which one wins. Our economy is at the point of collapse, and there's not a lot they can do about it now. It's gone too far. Gerald Celente was on Coast to Coast tonight and he's forecasting April. I really don't know. The people sitting around arguing about which of the puppets are going to be on stage for the next four years are deluding themselves. Celente actually called what's going on a Political Reality Show, and I think he hit the nail on the head with that one. Hey, if voting actually changed anything, it would be illegal, right? He also advised turning your money into something real, stocking up on food and the rest of it, and prepare to hunker down.
