Interesting, I'm seeing the general average age group is between the ages of 40 -50 with a few alittle younger and a few alittle older.
A few more questions to try to get a general overview of the prepper attitude.
One question is what part of the country are you living in? The other qestion is what got you into the life stile of prepping? It seems to be alot of different levels of prepping, and the type of work people are doing.

Great state of georgia. started preping because i live an hour away from any where saturday afternoon is not the time you want to run out of something and run to town it blows the rest of the day.
Geez Louise, guess I may be the oldster here at 72-1/2, been prepping for at least 30 years. Been living the homesteading lifestyle for 25 or so years and have refined down what works for me. Living at my BOL, absolutely NO plans to bug out. wouldn't physically be able to keep up the pace needed to survive in the wilderness. I'm set to be a "way station" for those young enough to play Rambo if and when that is an applicable situation. Got my preps well in hand, got the skills I figure I need so I live a quiet uneventful life now days with my goats and garden and sharing information as applicable. Moved specifically to where I am now in AR about 7 years ago strictly to increase my survival chances vis a vis a decent growing season and milder winters.
Live in my BOL also, Don't plan on going anywhere, We will compost the bodies if they start to stack up!!! ref to earlier post!
We have been survivors for along time and started prepping and planning before a large icestorm. The only house for miles with 12 v lights, wood heat in three rooms, plenty of canned goods, chainsaws, fuel and salt at that time. We loved that we were in control and not at the mercy of the gougers. That was in '89, moved to FL in '94 continued prepping for hurricanes and any other issues, y2k came around and we were not really worried had pretty much all we needed, even had two friends from KY come and enjoy the New Years with us.
Now we prep because it is who we are. We moved back to Northern, KY relatively (3hrs) close to family and NEEDED the four seasons. Son lives on the farm with us. Little piece of heaven.
Do the right thing, because it is the right thing to do!
I am 51 and the dw is 50. We have been prepping for over 4 years now. We are currently raising 2 of our grandchildren due to their parents stupidity so it gets tough, little time for each other, but if not us then who would do it.

Patriot Lady and I started prepping a bit when the threat of Y2K loomed in 2000. At that point we lived deep in the CO mountains and made trips to town to stock up about once a month so picking up a couple of extra weeks supplies wasn't a stretch. We were there when 9/11 hit. That was an eye opener in many ways. We started doing a little more stocking up in case another man-made disaster happened.
We moved back to Oklahoma in 2002 to help both sets of parents. About two years ago the warnings of several folks we respect caused us to start taking prepping more seriously. For years we've listened to Rush Limbaugh, Peter Schiff(Euro Capital), Mark Levine, and a few others. The one that really made us get in gear was Glenn Beck. He has been right about so many things and, like him, we are students of history and we see this country starting to go through what has destroyed so many other countries financially, socially and culturally. We didn't know that what we were doing was called prepping until we happened to see this forum and a few others and started watching Doomsday Preppers and Doomsday Bunkers.
We really got in gear late last year and most of our decisions have been guided by the thought of preparing for the worst case scenario. We're closing on a home next Tuesday that will provide much of what we need and want to further our prepping, including a much better location and it's much less expensive than what we currently own. We sold our home and bought this one soley to speed up our prepping.
As for where we live? We live in what we believe is the most conservative state left in the union. Oklahoma! Here in northern Oklahoma the summers are hot...and windy and the winters are cold...and windy. Did I mention it's windy here? We know there are prettier places to live where the climate is more temporate but our families were born and raised here and in just our county alone there are more guns than there are at Tinker AFB in OKC! LOL
Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.

We're in W. Michigan, in the "Burbs" of a large city. I'd like to be further out, if finances permitted.
I started prepping after a local radio station changed their format. They canned their local morning crew and started carrying Glen Beck. At first I thought he was just another wacko "Deputy Downer".
But like HE SAYS... "Don't believe me, DO your OWN research!"
So I did.... and said "YIKES!! There's some bad crap on the horizon!!"

That's part of what I like about him, that he tells you to verify everything he says. We've learned more from him in the last few years than we did in school!
