    Maybe we just need to get together, pool our resources, determine a bol central to all of us, go ahead and move to that location. That way we're working together to prepare one location for the group. Having said that, I'm moving into a new home (new to us) Tuesday. I'd like a few months to enjoy it before I move to a bol! LOL
    Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.

      consider all of the things you use daily and how many of the things you use. you can not take every thing with you. maybe I woa good reason to bug in and hope for the best. I guess i'm thinking what is the difference of my wife and I going to a bol and be by ourselfs or bugging in by ourselfs. I can't see why I would want to spend that extra money and have the same thing.

      today this mornin the water presure decreased to a trickle, and then this afternoon the power went out for about and hour and a half, with no back up I need to do some work on our utilities.

      every day is a learning experence.

        Yep. And the coveinence store/gas station at the cross roads has a Subway sandwich shop in it! Wonder of wonders!! We actually have a fast food joint!!!!!!

          Isn't that all we need? Subway and ammo?

          We've got a Jiffy Trip convenience store/gas station in our town of 800 that serves a pretty good hamburger and fries but you'd better have an iron gut for the fried food they put out! We've got two mechanics, a small hardware and automotive shop, a tire shop, Billy Bob's Bar, motorcycle shop, Cowboy Church, and the newest business is a lady who is a masseuse! I'm pretty sure Patriot Lady isn't going to let me get a back rub there!...chuckle...

            We fall into the 30-35 range. Got into prepping in '97, the focus of our preps has changed drastically over the years. Started out with a very niave red dawn/mad max type focus to more of a COLMOLLIN/homestead approach.

                  I'm under 40, but I can see it from here and it's coming up fast. Too fast.

                  I got started down this path in my early 20's. I spent a number of years in a cubicle that felt like a prison cell. Went through the .com boom and the .com bust. Then the housing boom and housing bust. In my adult life I've never seen a stable economy. To me retirement plans based on collecting money is a gamble. So instead of investing in some fund run by some random person I don't trust, I invest in myself. I figure it's better to buy water, shelter, food, etc. that is sustainable instead of just hoarding money in the hope it's still there later and that it's enough to support myself.

                  Zombies and disasters happen, but I'm mostly just preparing to keep living even after the paychecks stop. The more I can provide for myself, the less money I need to keep up my quality of life, the less money I need to retire and the less risk I have when the economy has another heart attack. At least that's the plan.

                    We are in the Ozarks. We are homesteading/prepping. Trying to be as self sufficent as possible. Wow! it is a big job.

                    What got us into prepping? I had to read "One Second After" for my Comp II class. I couldn't imagine telling my hungry son there was nothing for him to eat. As a parent, it was horrifying and something I hope I will never have to do.

                              45-50 and alot nearer to 50. lol, Been worried since Y2K times. Just started taking action about year ago. Have enough food for wife and I for a year, ability to purify enough water for three years. Don't have a true BOL but I have a plan. Have enough ammo to make the deer, rabbits and any unwanted guest worry. Starting to work on the med kit and library. Been working on adding non electic tools. Have garden seeds and garden plots ready to go. Trying to figure out how to build a rabbit hutch and chicken coop without the wife finding out. She lets me stock up on the food so she doesnt have to run to wal-mart. If something happens to me she is going to be surprised when she goes into my preppering room. lol
