    LMAO!!!

Their is enough "good" info on there like Dsarti with his handwarmers.... Nothing like taking long term advice from someone without any real long term experience. I posted previously about the real danger here of new people seeing crap like that and thinking it's good to go info....... sigh

I cannot believe they did not show the "mis fire" aka AD with the guy blowing his thumb off. Like most on there, he was portraying a smug attitude (fake confidence) that did NOT match his skill level or experience. The EMT should have assumed he would go into shock- people tend to do that during stuff like that you know... LOL

Older Christian guy from the south. Started off with a modicum of OPSEC than blew it. Lots of psy ops/false trails laid there for NatGeo /those viewing.

Still can't understand the "I have sixty guns but no real defense plan or training" mindset. Yes, it isn't the end of the world if you sell a gun of yours to pay for training, other defensive upgrades etc.

Trying to positive, but honestly, a resupply point for BG's....

BS was decent in the food store- "we are making candy" but once he hit the liquor store it was "we are preparing to barter with this." Equals- afraid to break social norms and be the baptist seen at the liquor store. A 20 minute drive to the next town over could have made that liquor store trip less intrusive.

And folks, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, if you are going to go to all this trouble to be on a show like this, do not make bogus molotovs on the show- EXPENSIVE molotovs using vodka I might add.

there was threads " wow did you try out..i sent my vid....."

Nat geo. tossed out a big net,,,,caught a few limit sized fish and a bunch of finglerings........but they decided to keep them all.....bad conservation/harvesting practice's if you ask me LOL

looking back i should have tried out....coulda laid down some good smoke/pys Ops on my end of things and played with them and then make millions off selling the protus prep handbook or some junk.....
Hey Petunia...you dropped your man pad!

I'm still confused on how the guy blew off a chunk of his thumb... Did he shoot it off with hand in front of muzzle or did he have some kind of KABOOM? He said he was glad his son wasn't using it at the time, so it sounds like a kaboom... Anyone know?

As for the plump gourmet prepper... She does have a controlling personality, but it seems the husband is equally into prepping from his comments... I think he works out because he sees how his wife gained weight and wants to avoid that happening to him with all the food she cooks. But i do admire how the wife is organized, motivated, and can be trusted to have "her responsibilities" squared away when it all goes bad. I love my wife, and she is fully supportive, but she is NOT an organized person, nor a gourmet cook... So she has some good things going for her... If she could just lose that huge double-chin and spare tire...

Every one can find the bad things and the stupid stuff but is anyone getting things that maybe they can do, change at home, make better for them to use?????? Everything and everybody needs to check and recheck facts and ideas they have or plan to do. Most of us do most thing the same but never the same way. Its just human nature.

Yes. I'm working on that. I started a thread on it if you get ideas. Been talking to a few people about it around where I live.

It's real simple you put your thumb over the end of the barrel while it is loaded and then pull the trigger with supieror ninja skills, then blame the firearm. Gosh dont you guys get it, it aint MY fault, that gun........
Then you pass out while your highly trained team of teen ninjas stand by horrified just like they will when the SHTF and then compensate by buying the largest most expensive medical kit you can find to show that you are now ready to really blow something off!

As far as the guy who shot his thumb he should threat a firearm like a Claymore mine and read which direction goes toward the enemy.
When an emergency is upon you the time for preparation has past.

Was referring more to technique. Looked to me like his wrists were turned inwards while striking- not lined up with the forearm. Good way to get some damage from that.

I liked the Evers family. He's another old skewl type. Really made me wish I had more "chitrins" back when I was younger. Don't want to start popping out more babies this late in my thirties though. The whole family was able to watch that one as we were traveling and in a hotel. I told my boy later that I had about another 20 years "shelf life" as far as "rolling and patrolling" goes so I was glad he was getting squared away and growing up in shape and strong. Told him he needed to marry well and have about a dozen children so we could have a whole platoon one day ;)

To answer your question, I know some of the comments on this thread seem critical. But keep in mind someone of us are thinking about the big picture. The "big picture" is that the media does not have our best interests in mind- they are slicing and dicing (that's obvious) and just from the comments "Megan" and "Dsarti" have made after the show came out, they (natgeo) are being very manipulative in putting the info together for each show. Surprise surprise right? Seems like I remember someone saying that would happen.... But I digress.

Like I said earlier in the thread, the best thing that's come out of this show *for me* is the realization that my family lives a pretty damn normal life. And while we are "out there" as far as people in this movement, we hold a fair amount of cover in our "normal" lives.

Seeing a TV show make a mockery of a movement I've loved, worked hard in and been involved with personally and via business for decades is not in the least bit pleasant for me.

While the show is fun to watch and we will watch it every time we can. We have to be realistic about how the GDP is viewing it and what they are getting out of the show. Do you really think Joe and Sally Sixpack are getting anything positive out of a bunch of people that unfortunately many of which are portrayed as freaks? I guess with a background in marketing and psycology I "see" things portrayed here a lot different than some of us do. Like I said above, they are really making a mockery of this movement. That's the disappointing fact of the matter.

What I dont understand (well actually I do) why each "prepper" has some elaborate reason of why they are prepping. Some of them, I say "Ok, that seems reasonable"....but pole shifts and stuff like that make me chuckle. I cant wait til someone says, " I am prepping for Nibiru and when it collides with Earth I have a planet impact proof bunker"

This show is good for what we do.
                            A.) It wakes people up
B.) You can learn from other peoples mistakes
C.) It shows you some different techniques and ideas.
D.) It makes you feel NORMAL

I have had friends tell me I am nuts and that there will never be an "end to the world". I agree. Personally, I am nuts. But not about this stuff. The reason I prep or as I like to call it.....insure.....is because I want to know that whatever happens, be it I lose my job or I get sick and cant work or I decided to boycott society, I know that I can rely on stuff I have stored up to get me through that period. It is more of a hobby for me that actually increases in value rather than decrease.

These folks on this show, God Bless em. They try as hard as they can and believe what they are doing is right to them. We have that Freedom to do that. We can even shoot our thumbs off and faint in front of our ninja squad on national Tv if we'd like. But, as I have told people since I was a teen, if you cant take criticism, constructive or destructive, go away.

I've just watched a couple of episodes of this show for the first time. I am convinced the producers insist the "participants" pick a single "doomsday" disaster to say they are prepping for. Why is no one presented as just prepping in general for any of a variety of troubles?

While many will say the media is trying to mock the preppers, I don't think that's really it. They are going for ratings. It is part of a broader series they call "American Outliers." i'm sure they'll have other series about hioppies, polygamists, etc.

I think they have each segment focus on one particular "event" to try to add interest and variety. I'm less convinced, for example, that the elaborate container fortress couple with their 22 friends are all really only prepping for a pole shift event. And is the NYFD guy really only prepping for the Caldera, or maybe also for another 9-11, that he responded to? And possibly a dirty bomb? But they picked the Caldera so they could do all the graphics and then have the experts opine on the "likelihood" of his chosen threat.

And I do agree with the point that most of these folks live in crap holes. I have never met any of you, but for the most part I've assumed few of you live in junkyards.
