I'm hearing "historic high" on gold at $2070.

I thought I remembered it getting to $2700. back in 2008-2010'ish time period??

Is $2070. really the HIGHEST it's EVER been?

best I remember off the top of my head is it almost bumped $2500, was like $15 short of that and then got slammed down.
Nice to see AU and AG going up decently again,
        Merry Christmas to all

PS I do more junk silver than others because that's the first thing the normies will gravitate toward.
I have seen that you have to watch the headlines...they will say "historic" or "highest we've seen" kinda stuff and then you read the article they say ...over the last decade, or ...since 2008 kinda stuff. The media knows we are just scanning the headlines so they kinda mislead you if you just read the headlines...get to the real story and many times they just continue the lie...

I think the highest $$ I have into an ounce is about $1850. to include the $99. premium hit and that was a couple years back.

For the poor souls that bought at whatever old high there was- $2500, $2700. or whatever. How has their "inflation hedge" been doing all this time?? They are still in the hole $500. or more not considering commissions when they sell.

Even at my $1850. example from a couple years back- "Inflation hedge?" Not a great "hedge". Even the measly 5% CDs at the bank have been doing better.

            Inflation hedge? No.

Way to squirrel away some more funds, that's about it.

Our MASTERs sure slammed gold down when they woke up from their alcohol or drug or pedophile induced haze this morning.
              Not terribly surprising.

agree, the young nowadays feel like they know everything and don't listen to the elders who have lived thru a lot of it....

Notice all of them ship from APMEX,Inc. (free shipping)
                        Hmmm?
Does that mean merikans will actually understand what gold is?

                        Hmmmm?

Including my favorite 1979 South Africa 1 oz Gold Krugerrand

IMO, Most mericans will not know or care. Some may know, but are just so tight they don't have the spare cash.

                            for some reason? prices climbing...
                            quote from sd bullion...

                            gold 2180
                            silver 24.50
                            this morning.

                            the reason? i don't know.
                            maybe the answer is
"there are a lot of reasons!"

Gold seems to have finally broke over and stayed over $2000. for a while now. Enter all the goldbugs to say "see we told you this would eventually happen!!" LOL

I thought about this the other day. Having bought a lot of coins roughly 10 or so years ago when it was $1300. or so an ounce, occasionally buying at lesser prices as well. Think the lowest I remember was around $1100. during that time period.

10 years (or slightly more) ago.

Run the numbers and this is about a 5% return over that time period. Certainly doesn't keep up with most investments during that time period.

"But Lowdown3 it's NOT an investment! The guy that pitches PMs to me told me this when I was asking him about losing money on these!"

OK, not an "investment" or rather only an "investment" when it's making money, got it.

. Next one "it's a hedge against inflation!" 5% hedge? Looks like it's not really keeping up.

I stick with my previous statements that it's a crappy "investment/not an investment" and it can't be counted on as "hedge against inflation." Cue the "market is being manipulated" talk- also programming from the precious metals companies...

So what then? Look at it as another means to save and put aside some value. Diversify. This BS mantra that so called "survival authors" say- rawles in 2014 "get out of all dollar denominated assets NOW!" Really? Damn that sucks, made a helluva lot of money in the market in the last 10 years, surely better than 5% return on PMs, most of which didn't happen till recently.
