Mods, if wrong forum, please move!
Like all RV's, ~small beginnings~ has taught me to relook at 12 volt lighting!
above my bed, the regular lights (2) are really just tail light bulbs, and put out ugly light, plus unwanted heat in the summer.
As she is an older RV, I noticed that the bathroom bulb (same type, tail light, single contact), was not working, and realized that the "glue" to hold the glass to the brass had allowed the bulb to vibrate apart!
Right away, my light (above my head) came on (I had to have one pun, yes?) So I cleaned out the brass, and soldered the lead to a string of automotive "decor" lights.
I soldered the negative lead, after wrapping that wire around the brass a couple turns, just for the use of "gripping" something, my body is old as well as the RV!
I inserted the brass base, and used the sticky backing of the decor light string, to mount it on the wood trim, after cleaning the trim with alcohol.
Now I have a great general "area" light, but not enough to read by....
So the Second light was created. I bought Marine (boat) LED's quite a while ago, at wally world's boating section. I actually broke a bulb that worked, to get the brass base, and soldered in the leads: great reading light, on the second part of the dual lights same switch, first position, general light... second reading light!
THIRD, no unwanted heat, which is a misuse of the power, as far as I am concerned, if I was looking for heat, I wouldn't want LIGHT from it either!
I hope to do a few other light's & ideas for them, and I will have photo's with that, OK?
I really like living in my RV, it is ~small beginnings~, as I am beginning to change my thinking's on ~many~ aspects of living.... Like why should a single person need 1500 Square feet of living space? Yes I downsized bunches.
I do not miss my old Townhouse, nor the rent for it. the $$$ saved is paying off credit cards... then, I hope to place small beginnings on a small piece of land....
So much for Part One.
