"How to Survive TEOTWAWKI" book vs "Rawles Gets You Ready" course
The "course" was designed around how you could prep using just buying stuff at Big Box Store (like Costco). It went into depth on some of the items pretty well.
The Book is different it is from what i remember (best described by me) as an overview but really goes into very little detail.
They are not really similar in my opinion, if you feel you must get them, then i would get both. It really boils down to how soon you want to get up to speed. If you have the time to study and ask questions, then you might not need either.
I've liked everything Rawles has been involved with, however I think $150. or even $75. is way too much for that "course." I have a friend that bought one and I perused it. It's the kind of thing folks in the Patriot movement would have sold for $20-50. back in the 90's. It should be noted that the guy that published it- NOT RAWLES- set the price and the format for it.
His new book is a good starter book- lots of lists, a lot of people love that sort of thing.
Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"
Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"
The thing that really put a sour taste in my mouth and brain was the "sales pitch" conversation from the publisher/seller... He must have been one of those "Financial Secrets" marketers...
My gosh, how long can someone go with the sales pitch? It goes on and on... So many hooks were thrown I lost count...
I didn't order one just because of the repugnant feeling I got from the sales spiel...
But Rawles blog has done a great service to us all... Lots of cherished info...
Yeah the sales pitch was pretty bad, made me think of those Timeshare sales dinners (I have only heard about them never been to one personally). I am just curious as to if it really is worth the money. I mean its only common sense to buy your grains at a place like Sams or Costco if you can, 99.999999% of the time buying in bulk is cheaper. It makes me wonder if there really is that much great info.....not to say that Rawles would put his name on something that wasn't good its just the way this guy does the pitch.
Gotta agree with Rmpl. The sales pitch and "hype marketing" is what killed it for me. I would have ordered it. I've spent more for books, spend a lot regularly on training, etc. It's not that the $150. price tag turned me off, it was the sales hype. Being in the preparedness industry and having a marketing degree also, I don't have much tolerance for pushy sales and marketing.
When I saw my buddy's copy I was very glad I did not invest the money in it. Like I said above, $50. would have/would be reasonable for it, the guy could make GOOD profit off of it- it's a ring binder with single sided photocopied sheets.
Rawles new book is good but like Eeyore said, he does not go into anything in much detail. GREAT starter book though and with a price point ($10-15) that makes it within everyone's reach. I've even seen it at Barnes and Noble on the shelf.
Yeah, that sounds pretty cheaply made, I mean 3 ring binder single side copies, whoopty doopty. Probably can get the info from forums like this one and his blog without having to spend the money. Now if it was made out of gold or silver. His List of Lists and the modified one that someone turned in helps get the ball rolling and the brain thinking. I appreciate all the feedback. I think I will get the other book from Amazon.
I was a little skeptical of the value of his course so I emailed and asked if there was a money back guarantee. Got no reply. The person marketing it does seem to use sleazy sales tactics.
ALL -- I got the following from the publisher of "Rawles Gets You Ready" course.
Hello Erik,
The three publications have little if any overlap, and make perfect companions to each other. The"Rawles Gets You Ready" preparedness course goes into great detail on the food issue that is introduced in one chapter of " How to Survive the End of the World as We Know It".

So it sounds like its all about food for $150...but the TEOTWAWKI book is for less than $20. I will have to wait, I can't justify that kind of expenditure without a better ROI than what I am hearing. Thanks one and all for talking about this and giving all of us newbies great info.

@Protus -- Thanks for the confirmation and the cough's!! I just found the Survival Reort videos last night on Youtube, rabbits are looking to be pretty lucrative. I am going to get the " How to Survive the End of the World as We Know It" book since the cost of it is sooooo cheap compared to that course.
