  • Week 1 is complete! Juicing and Raw Foods only diet...

Last week, after watching "Fat, Sick, and Almost Dead" on Netflix streaming, my wife and I got "rebooted," a term from the video, and re-motivated to get thinner and in better health.
Netflix ~ Fat, Sick, and Almost Dead

We already had a good juicer and blender, so we had ZERO excuses... We started on it last weekend, and we are now finishing up WEEK 1, and so far the results have been GREAT! First couple days were rough as the body went into detox and withdrawls, but Day 3 was much easier and we started to feel really good! Just one week into it and I already feel some clothes are LOOSER than they were last week. Yeah! Don't own a scale, so no pounds numbers, but I FEEL IT... I also feel healthier: more vibrant and alert, as well as some minor (middle age) pains in areas are gone too. We are both really thrilled with the results, but we knew we would once we DID IT. We are no newbies to health & fitness, but HEAD knowledge does not equate to DOING IT, just as it is in SURVIVAL and preparedness. So we are getting the results we expected...

Our diet is heavy on JUICE (mainly vegetable, with some fruit for sweetness), with raw foods thrown in when juicing is not available (lunch), like a salad. We try to get ORGANIC in the veggies that are documented to contain and retain more residual pesticides and pollutants, and regular veggies for everything else. Lots of LOCAL produce here, so it is a GREAT time to do this diet...

We also STRONGLY believe in CELLULAR FUNCTION (health) and cellular DIS-function (DIS-ease) as Dr. Celltox himself best describes...

We plan on keeping on it for 10-days, and then we expect to continue it for a whole month, and even longer... Only breaking from it slightly to add things like rice and beans as the diet progresses, as well as keeping proper "food combinations" in mind for good digestion (a topic that would be a post in and of itself).

Just wanted to post our progess here among my survivalist nutjob friends... LOL! Hugs and kisses, really. haha!

I encourage you to get a scale and also check your pulse and BP before you get started and during and after.

I wish I had something more than beginning and ending weight written down to look back on. My pulse rate was always pretty low, even when I was heavy, because of the running. But my BP was definitely higher. I've seen my pulse as low as 49 although usually mid 50's resting. BP the other night not 20 minutes after sparring was 96/67. IIRC, top number (systolic?) was always about 115'ish and bottom number was 90 or so usually. Wish I had charted that stuff previous to losing the weight.

You'll find the morning "oh my back!" episodes about go away also.

Best of luck. I'm working to the same goal of getting into better shape myself.

Just don't get discouraged by a slip or two. They happen and you can get past them.

Thanks for reviving this thread as a reminder... I did fall off the wagon from Thanksgiving to New Years. Got back on it this week...

            Some lessons:

Juicing greens really requires a "masticating juicer" like an Omega 8006, which is also amazing on veggies of all types too. I have one coming in a few days to fill in the huge gap a centrifigal juicer leaves... Also does fruit sorbet deserts, wheat grass, and makes nut butters and nut milks...

            Omega 8006

Centrifigal juicers are best for juicy vegetables and fruits, as is a blender. I am using a Jack LaLanne Juicer Express and I am NOT impressed... I should have spent a bit more money and got the Breville...

            Breville 800JEXL

I do have animal meats though, like fish and chicken, so I am not hardcore raw... Some dairy too...
