Took the Katadyn Hiker Pro camping back in Jan and used it in below freezing temps without it freezing up. After pumping into my jugs I pumped all excess water out and kept it in my jacket pocket while sitting at the fire to thaw it out. I then slept with it (and various other items) in my sleeping bag...never had an issue and I drank from the mountain all weekend long. This is one of the best tools I have ever owned because of its versatility.
