Anything new we should know about for 2015?

How quick is your turn-around time on the Swamp-Fox in 5.45x39? Looking to get one for spring... My sewing skills are still not to your guys level. :D

Any videos on MultiCam & MultiCam Tropic differences? Tropic is 500D and regular is 1000D.... Any durability issues to be expected going to 500D? Will it make it any less sweat-inducing in summer months?

UPDATE: Found your YouTube Channel with this info on 500d Tropic... Watching now.

Binding tape looks so nice, and really increases strength... I do my tape by hand, which is not much fun. The jigs are a bit pricey for my Consew, so haven't justified it yet for my hobbyist volume of product. It would be nice to see a video of how you guys do your taping... I don't think any trade secrets would be revealed in that... :-)

I'm sure Hawkeye will give some updates.

Yes. There are some new things in the works for this year. Hope to have something to show soon...

As for time frame, right now its a full 3 month, however, that is steadily shrinking and should continue to shrink in the coming weeks/months.

In regards to heat issues and 1000D vs 500D, they are really about the same.

The 500D that the MC Tropic is in, is actually one of the stiffest 500's I've handled. Its not a stout as 1000D, but definitely more so than many other 500D offerings. It should be a good strong material. My only concern, if I'm being completely honest, is how well it will hold up to use with AK mags. Not saying it, wont, I just honestly don't know. Only time will tell there. We've only done a couple of rigs with it, so it hasn't been long enough to really get any feedback yet. Bottom line is this. Until we know for sure, if you get an AK rig in it, and issues come up, we'll take care of it and make it right one way or another.

As for the binding tape, I've got a machine set up and dedicated for just binding tape. The attachment I use comes with a new top plate, feed dogs, presser foot, and the folding attachment. Its pretty nice.

Thanks for the video! That jig makes it super easy... Not so much fun by hand, trying to crease it in the middle while feeding multiple layers of cordura into a small area with a sharp needle going up and down, able to puncture bone if not careful. Once started I do ok, but corners and curves are hard by hand, especially curves. I am going to have to invest in one of those jigs for my Consew soon I think. As it warms up, and my shop gets warmer, I hope to do more projects this year.

From the videos I see on Youtube, you guys make some excellent gear! As a test, I tried to get all fancy with Molle pouches for my AK-74 mags. They came out nice, but way to complicated and difficult to sew to make again into a chest rig. Your guys solution is much simpler for mag curve and locking lugs clearance.

I agree, 500D may be put to the test with those sharp AK locking lugs and angles that make points for impact abrasion damage.

I hope all is successful for all of you involved...

Maybe a unlisted shop video in the future, showing the machines you have and what they do? Industrial sewing machines are amazing machines and fascinate me how every part works together in perfect syncronicity... Usually, when adjusted right. I bought my Consew used and went through every setting to make it in spec. Changed to an electronic motor too. Purrs like a kitten now and only protests when the layers get too thick or the webbing is that really tough, thick stuff... The fine art of thread tension! :-)

Due to the time it takes to change threads and re-adjust, as well as set feet and needles for the job, I know why shops like yours dedicate one machine to a specific task. I have seen videos of those CNC-like computer controlled machines the big manufacturers use, and that is just plain amazing.

I did at one time run two machines. Like you posted set up for different task.
Just recently I had to switch out..needles ...thread type..color etc. Not a big deal but soaks up time..having that second machine helps a ton.
Along specialized feet. I've been wanting to buy one that makes sewing two style fabrics together ...it keeps them from sliding around. On the tarps your ribbon for tie outs will slide..but I've started pinning things down so it helps. But having the right foot can save time to. I have to roll /hem all my edges by hand...fun stuff on 8-10 ft lengths.
Hey Petunia...you dropped your man pad!

Rmpl- I have one of the 5.45 chest rigs that Hawkeye makes, it's pretty damn impressive!

                    Get you one! ;)

Okay, since Hawkeye posted a little, I feel I can tease a bit more. Don't shoot me Hawkeye. ;)

Currently I am testing a BOK/Bleeder pouch that UW Gear is working on. It features their tuck tab design and only tales up two columns of PALS webbing. So far it works well. The tab is a bit stiff, but like all their tabs a bit of working/using them it is loosening up and makes it easy to close back up. It has a box type lid that opens easy and even if you couldn't secure with the tuck tab, it will hold items in the pouch unless you are doing somersaults. Of course, you should tuck the tab if you can. I can get a 4" Izzy, 3" Quik Clot Combat Gauze (maybe two but I haven't tried yet), four 3"x9" petroleum gauze, a NPA and a pair of gloves packed in with easy removal. The CAT is attached to the PALS webbing on the side. The quality of the sewing is top notch as it is on all the gear they manufacture.

Also in the works is a double pistol mag pouch with the tuck tab closures. They also have an adjustable top to fit different length mags. I run a G19 but carry G17 mags in this pouch. I believe (?) they will be making a double and triple pistol mag pouch.

There are other items that UWG is working on. One is a possible new Chest Rig that I can't wait til it's further vetted. If it works as well as it looks, I'll be getting one as soon as I can.

Just FYI, I am not affiliated with UWG other than testing these two items (BOK and pistol mag pouch). They were given to me to test. I have purchased several items at retail cost (three Chest Rigs, and Bandoleer) from them and have not been disappointed.

Yeah showed the wife unit how "easy " that foot attachment made putting the tape on.
She was like "wow that's fast "....then I cried about having to do it by hand and showed her the cost to make my time on a machine easier /faster......

Ill have better luck asking for a pvs14 I think lmao.

                              Cool tool for sure.

Hey, I've learned over the years as I have listened and tried to learn from people around me that have a bunch of experience in this stuff. Made my mistakes buying cheaper stuff, and learned from it.
