I would like to have a small beginners course/ conversation about HAM and what a radio can be used for. Communications is something I have no clue about.
You know what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like this?

Sounds good. Spock is going to pick up QRPrat on the way up and he already volunteered to do a radio class ;) (HINT HINT QRP!!)

If not, I'm sure someone there will be able to help you get started.

A gal from another forum is offering to do a canning class there at the campout so that ought to be good as well.

I'm talking to a military guy about doing a class on military combatives, not sure if that will pan out but if it does you won't want to miss that.

I will try to remember my Harbor Freight Solar kit so a comparison can be made.

It's not the best but it will get your foot in the door for a decent price(IF on sale).

Need to check my 105's also now that you mentioned it, Thanks.

Definitely bring whatever folks have in this area, we'll look at all the major components, what they do and we'll hook up a small system there at the campout.

It ought to be very interesting.

A gal from another forum has offered to do a canning (glass jar) class at the campout so you can add that to the list also.

How about a mini class on Dental preps/knowledge for those of us that can't
get to the professional classes. Some knowledge of materials to obtain that
can be used (even if short term) would be helpful.

The Big Green P pretty much forbids off time during that part of November, but I am trying to wrangle my way into the Spring FL campout! Even if I can't get a Saturday off, I should be able to drive up for a day/into the evening on Friday, and would love to for my own enrichment. If there's enough interest (say 5 people), I will commit to the drive for a day trip if I can't get the time off to do a presentation on radio and various prepper related considerations...

                    re: bathrooms and showers.
                    when i've been there before...
                    the "primitive campground" was utilized.
the facilities available are there courtesy of the state of ga. and its taxpayers, and are nothing but the best in the primitive area and include
                    1 water spigot
                    1 fire ring
                    1 3 sided small shelter.. about 10 x 14 (that was a guess)
we usually use this to stack groceries and cooking gear
1 outhouse, a 1 holer. someone may remember to bring an insect spray can to kill a few spiders..
2 charcoal grills small metal units (that are common to state parks) with each attached to a single pole.

                    some sandy soil
                    some scraggly trees.
                    a good time of fellowship
                    bring your own camp chair.
don't let rr sit in it.. he broke doc's chair one year. and that is when rr was a skinny feller.

about a mile down the road but within the state park is a camping area designated for travel trailers and motor homes.
this area has a nice masonry facility with showers and commodes that flush (contrasted with a one holer where things go splash, saving the need for a flushing mechanism and running water.) i think it is heated. i believe i remember
small sinks with mirrors!! no sink and no mirror at the primitive area
if a "primitive" camper were to ask permission to use this facility you may be told no.
i have reason to believe that on occasion a few "primitives" have quietly, minding their own business, taken the liberty to stop by and use the facility and maybe take a shower while they were there.
taking care not to intrude on the motor homer types.
i've heard a rumor that a primitive camper purchased a pass to use the fancy dancy facilities. i haven't asked about a pass purchase arrangement, as finances have been tight.
a few fellas have been known to apply nitrogen, using the "direct application process" behind a few trees, taking care to do so, well out of the sight of female campers.

and that's all i've got to say about that!
                    rr

This campsite has one of the most memorable facilities for personal relief that I have ever encountered. New entries in the Audobon Field Guide to Insects are made from discoveries made there.

Not that bad, it is an outhouse like granny used and we will use if the SHTF. Even after a couple of days in camp nobody smells too bad. Or at least nobody complains about the other guy because your own stank might be worse. I live about a three night walk from where I work so using the woods and not bathing would be a reality if I had to make the trip afoot. Come on down and join the fun.

Outhouse and water spigot at the camp site. A quick 2 minute ride up the road to the RV part of the park is the Taj Mahal for campers of toilet and shower facilities.

I've never been hassled using it. If you do, tell them we paid big bucks (more than them) also.

                            lol...
                            good idea wise.

folks, this was my first campout with s and p type folks.
most of the same initial crew will be there this year.

they gave me respect as a person, which i may not have deserved
i asked a few stupid questions!
i was pleasantly impressed that the wives, children, were always given respect
even though some of the kids sure didn't deserve it.
i've never seen a lady get improper attention.

                            wholesome environment.
but lots of good information, good classes, patience,
folks that are willing to share.
folks that you'd want to have for neighbors.
                            come on down!
                            rr

Canning class is confirmed. We'll have the solar demo if the T105's hold out. Someone asked about an empty hands versus knife demo, we can do that. Always room for others to step to the plate also and offer a class, discussion, etc. As usual we'll discuss this more Friday night at the campfire and be open to other ideas on the spot- can't guarantee we will have someone there that can accomodate the info/class but we usually do.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again.

I don't have anything that I can teach (except being a smart butt) but will try and participate in everything. Who knows, I may know something or a technique that you guys don't know.

For the canning class, do I need to bring a couple of jars and a handful of veggies?

Also, let me know about the firewood. We have a huge pile of extra I can bring. We will just need to split it. Which I won't mind doing with a few folks.

All these means barring some crazy event, I am there dude
