IMPORTANT! Just checked in, Park is not using a gate code for the Pioneer Camp area. The gate at the Pioneer Camp area should NOT be locked. Just come through it and if it's open, leave it open. They did give me a code for the front main gate to the Park if people got in late (after the park is closed). That code is 9487. Once again, this is NOT for the Pioneer area but for the main gate at the front of the Park. From the first post- once you enter the Main Gate of the park, continue on the paved road and follow the signs for Pioneer Camping. You should be able to get us on the cell phone 912-375-1480 Friday.

After you enter through the unlocked gate to the Pioneer Camp area turn at the FIRST dirt road on the right to get to our spot. There is another camping site further down that is not ours.

Hey, guys. I was the "young" (<50 y/o) guy with the tough-as-nails wife who couldn't get enough of the "gauntlet" and the boy with more energy than the Tazmanian devil. :-)

I look forward to doing it again and will keep my eye out.

                  Had an awesome campout!

About 20 people came despite the cold weather. More than a few stopped in just for the day or just for one night.

3 people from North of Interstate 16 showed up. A first in the almost 8 years we've been holding this campout. Normally their is a lot of interest from north Georgia folks but only one ever attended. One guy drove 5 hours to attend. All of them said it was definitely worth the drive!

We had several informative classes. One on ropes and knots. A former Navy guy that's done a lot of rigging showed and instructed on numerous notes and rope work. I needed this and got a lot out of the class. Folks come be seen the rest of the campout working with short pieces of 550 cord working the knots that were taught.

The campsite has a small shelter building there. We used that for a class on basic house clearing. We used a couple of red guns for this. Note that this is in a SECLUDED part of the park- no one outside the attendees saw this part. We went over slicing the pie correctly , correct use of space, dropping out, ambidextrous handling issues, C.A.R.. Everyone got several chances to work the corners and angles of the building

From there we talked about general "indexing" of the pistol and some basic manipulations people could go home and work on on their own. Again, we did this with an airsoft pistol and red guns- no live weapons were used at the campout.

Nothing like going to a campout and learning for FREE what others have spent a couple hundred dollars a day and years to learn!

Most of the attendees came from the Frugal Squirrels and Survival And Preparedness.com sites

Thanks for the well wishes my friends. Surgery was done this past Monday, only one knee. Sitting here now recovering. Recovering is another word for being bored because I can't do much. But I am going to follow the doctor's orders so I will have no excuse for not being in Ocala. This past Friday my bride and I went out for supper and I was pleased to see Georgia Boy out and about and looking good. (He was escorting THREE ladies, whaddup widdat?).

Is there a possibility this will be going on again this year LD3? I really want to come to one of these.

And if so, could it be in October this go round?

Not trying to be special but November is a busy month (11/4-5 sons 4th bday and party, 11/11 wedding weekend for best friend).......but if need be I could come out for a "Sunday Stroll" if anything. I would love to meet all of yall and trade stories, ideas and knowledge.....

Just casting my rod and reel into the pond .................

November is normally the earliest we do it cause it's still can be pretty hot down that way in October. Personally, I'm already pretty full up in October.

We may, just may flip flop around the GA and FL meets this year and have the FL one in November'ish and the GA one in Feb-March'ish. Not sure yet on dates.

We have held the GA campout once, sometimes twice a year since 03 so it's a going concern and will continue.

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"
