  • Annual Georgia campout Nov 5,6,7

Time's approaching again for the Annual Georgia campout. November 5th, 6th and 7th at General Coffee State Park, Douglas, GA.

This will be our 9th or 10th gathering at this location.

General Coffee State Park is located about 6 miles East of Douglas on Hwy 32. We will be camping in the "Pioneer Area" in the rear of the park. This area is gated and a gate code is given the DAY of the campout. The park doesn't give it out sooner than that, I've tried in years gone by and they won't give it out ahead of time at all. That being said, we post the gate code on this thread the day of, and it will be on the voice mail message of my cell. In addition you can ask any Forest Ranger or at the front desk for the code.

    Here is the park website-

It is a primitive camp area. Their is an outhouse and water, but that's it. Plan accordingly.

Your welcome to come for the whole weekend, for the day or half day and just meet everyone.

As before we will have numerous FREE classes on a multitude of preparedness and survival subjects, a barter time and plenty of time for chat around the campfire.

In the past we have done communal meals. We are going to try this one and the January Ocala campout WITHOUT communal meals at the request of more than a few regular attendees. In other words, your required to feed and take care of yourself at this one. Besides, we are missing great cooking in the field learning opportunities if all we are doing is standing in line for food

Weather is usually very nice there this time of year, in the 60's and 70's during the day and rarely getting lower than the 40's at night. Plan for cooler but not cold weather.

Always a great group of people from Georgia, Florida and South Carolina get together. This is a good chance to meet other like minded folks, attend some FREE classes, enjoy some great campfire chat and have fun!

The site costs $60.00 so I would appreciate a $5. per person donation to cover these costs.

    Email guderian308@hotmail.com to rsvp.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again and especially some of our North Georgia friends!

As always we are open to ideas for classes, events, etc.

Got about 20-25 confirmed for this one. Should be a LOT warmer than last January....... 17 degrees was interesting but not very good for turnout :(

It's been very nice getting into the 50's at night and only in the mid 70's during the day in that area.

Just a week away. Weather is nice in that area (I work up that way).

Their is a walmart about 8 miles away if your concerned about forgetting something.

Lots of first time campers have come to this one and walked away with a lot of knowledge.

Look forward to seeing some of you all there.

i'm looking for stuff for the trading table.
found a metal can, it's been opened.. looks like a 30 pound can of spam. has chinese writing on it.
got these little metal things in there. copper collored pointy things. all sorted out with 10 of em all lined up pretty on little metal slides. rows and rows of these little groups of 10.
thinking maybe i could trade them for something. i'm figuring someone will know what to do with these little
                      things.
looking to trade my precious metals for someone else's valuable silver.
                      or ??
                      whatcha got?

Bring them, ought to be good trading fodder. I'll take them if you can think of anything you need that you know I'd have.

i was thinking we had high 40's at night and high 70's in the daytime. i had a new lightweight sleeping bag i wanted to try out, that i got from my favorite website sponsor.....
it's looking like it will be back to the heavy military bag borrowed from a soldier!

I am going to miss sitting around the campfire until the wee hours. Wait, I always turn in early and miss all the good discussion. Anyway, I am going to miss the fellowship for sure. Had an MRI today and probably looking at arthroscopy on both knees coming up. I hope to get them both done and be ready for the FL camp. Have a good time, be safe and post lots of photos.
