I recently took a class on sanitation and water storage/purification from the Mormon church. I am not a Mormon but their classes are free and extremely helpful. This weekend I bought the pool bleach they recommend. It is a crystaline substance that does not lose its potency like liquid bleach. It kills everything in the water that can kill/hurt you including crytosporidium (sp?). A scant tsp in 55 gallons of H2O is sufficient.

We took an "Eat the Weeds" class by Green Deane that was really great. Very informative and well presented. We recognized a lot of edible plants that grow on our property. Stocked up on seasonings, instant cappuccino, drink mix, etc to add to the preps at Sam's Club during their no membership required weekend. Found some great deals on running shoes at Gander Mountain. $89.00 pair on clearance for $21.00. You can never have enough good shoes for the PAW :) While out of town for the weeds class, we got to see some great sheeple examples that compounded the reason why we live in the country and prep. We saw our taxes in action at Taco Bell... Couldn't wait to get home.
Also, been doing a new workout in addition to our regular running schedule the last few weeks with my family to step up our physical fitness as part of our preparedness.
Picked some of our muscadine grapes and am hoping to have enough by week's end to can some grape juice concentrate.

This is from the handouts from the class. I have a large amt of info from this class but don't know if there is anywhere to post that much info. There are instructions on how to make a Berkey type water filter for 100-200 dollars, that type of thing. Also lots of info on doo-doo disposal.

Wife and I went to LDS store and bought starter box of rice, grain, etc.

Was very reasonable at $20.25. Have 25 pd salt in mylar. Some cans of fruit, veg. and packaged macaroni, etc. Water in gallon jugs. Slowly building up supply for both of us.
Going to a wild edibles course next month.
Now if can just get my raised beds to producing more than it has been.

Had the day off Friday , went to the rifle range. It as a working trip, checking some maintenance items, and testing loads in .40S&W
Found a good load recipe, and spent yesterday loading up a batch.
Also zeroed a new scope on a .22lr bolt gun. Good feeling tying up several loose ends on one trip.

Picked tomatoes, carrots, peppers in the garden. Lot's of weeds this year, they took over.

Woodpile has been out in the open sun for most of the summer, covered it today, no more rain on it, that's it, it's staying dry into/through heating season, now.

Requires use of breathing apparatus, reacts violenlty with water releasing chorine gas... Ya, might want to add that to the "this stuff is great" before Joe Smoe tries to "clean" his murky water in his enclosed basement with no ventilation... =)

This week prep. =( unfortunately retired military only get paid once a month, so I kind of do all my "new prep" stuff the week immediately following the first of the month. So this week, I pretty much did the average: look through the papers in search for some reasonably priced farm land in Texas. =)

Canned 9 1/2 pints of peaches. Bought a few extra boxes of canning jar lids, an extra sugar and flour. Had very little to no extra money this week to work with so just did what I could. Looked up the Eat the Weeds videos, looked up how to tan hides naturally.

Finished reading "How to survive TEOTWAWKI tools, tips etc....". Pretty solid read, lots of sites to check out and further reading to do. I thought my career path was bad in regards to the amount of continual reading/learning but now I have just upped it by an exponential or 3. Going to make our monthly run to Sams next weekend, hope to get some extra water for the vehicles and some extra canned goods.

Nevster/desertsuncat/eFoods Multi level marketing/too cheap to pay for advertising s***bag- we will CONTINUE to delete and BAN you no matter how many times you attempt to come in with this bravo sierra. You are also GREATLY TARNISHING your "company's" image with this spam. For a company that has NOT been around long and no one really heard of before, this is a TERRIBLE WAY TO GET KNOWN. No customer is going to say "oh yeah I remember that company, they spammed the crap out of some forums I'm on that sure makes them look reputable, let's make a big order with them." It just does NOT work that way in this industry.

ALL of our mods know to delete your crap/spam and every IP and user name that shows up with it WILL be banned. Your WASTING YOUR TIME. Put some effort into REAL MARKETING instead of making yourself out to look like cheap s***bags.

I am also going to email this company, tell them that this is a continuing problem. I will POST their reply- or lack therefore-. If they are a reasonably legitimate company they will not condone this type of activity and put an end to it. Stay tuned to find out!
