  • Mylar, Oxygen abosrber, bucket question

Just put up 14 buckets of dry goods this past week. Went back today to inspect them and put lids on them.

I had 11 that were so air tight that it made the wheat, beans, etc feel like bricks. But there were 3 that still had some air in them. Not much, but some. On all 3, I was not able to fill the buckets near the top due to having to split 50 lb bags to fit my bucket sizes. That made it hard to get most of the air out before sealing. (Sounds like a lame excuse to me!)

The question is, do I need to redo those 3 bags or is a small amount of air alright?

As always, thanks for your help and advice.

This has been answered in other posts but yes you are fine as long as when you squeeze on the bag no air came out...if the seal is good then your food will be fine assuming of course you didn't forget to put an O2 absorber in it. The main thing is a good seal on the bag.

      I put a 2000 cc O2 absorber in each 5 gallon bag.

      Thanks

Then as long as you got a good seal you should be good to go...

Dry air contains roughly (by volume) 78.09% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.039% carbon dioxide, and small amounts of other gases. So about 21% of that volume of "Air" is oxygen and that 2000 cc absorber will make quick work and the rest will mostly be nitrogen.
