I took all she had. Now the Trooper smells like pickles but thats ok because I love pickles. Kinda like the SNL chick on the Zaxbys commercials, yeah like that.
And, I am going to try some different techniques on getting the smell out. I will share my findings.

Thanks for the info.! My inlaws are giving us a ton of unused buckets with lids but the food grade buckets would be a great addition!

I bought those 65gl drums with pickles and pool shock will take it right out. I used one bag for the barrel, left it full of water and shock in the sun for 6hrs and it totally cleaned it out. rinse good and no smell, all clean

How much would you "guesstimate" to use per 5 gal bucket? Never shocked a pool before... or pickle bucket.

                      Matt,

Do you think it would work for 55 gallon barrels? I have a source for 55 gallon food grade barrels that I would like to use for water storage. He's selling them for $15.00 a piece. They had balsamic vinegar stored in them. I would love to save some money that way.

I used 1/2 a bag on those last pickle barrels allowing them to sit in the sun and heat up and it worked great. Dont see why it wouldnt work on vinegar too. I mean think about it, the green mossy pool and a few hours later you can safely swim in the clear water......

I just cleaned out two more pickle buckets. I problely over killed it I used a half bag of pool shock in each 5 gal bucket and placed them in the sun for three days and no more stink. I used them to package up 50lbs of Ferina which is like cream of wheat but way better.

I was at Sams Club today and decided to ask the bakery department about their icing buckets. 2 6-gallon, 2 5-gallon (square), 3 2 1/2 gallon and one 1 gallon bucket all with tops. They recycle but I caught them before they threw them in the 'bin'. He was happy not to have to carry them to the back. SCORE :-)
