Read the first reply here. A person would have to devote a large amount of space for storing any large amount of beans. Freeze dried is the way to go. Unless you have a warehouse to store in. For myself, it makes sense to use the available storage space for grains. Post collapse, if it gets really bad freeze dried coffee will be like gold!

I believe that preppers and survivalist need to learn how to function and live without coffee. My opinion is that preppers should not be addicted to any substance period. It might be a good idea to stop drinking coffee for a while and detoxify your body. And learn how to not be dependent on coffee.
That being said, if you are not dependent or addicted to coffee, then there is nothing wrong with drinking it on occasion. I cannot drink it without a lot of cream, so if things get really bad, I have no choice but to go without coffee. I won't really miss it.
I could also write more about the negative effects of coffee on your health, but I am going to stop right now. I have to go into the kitchen to make a pot of java.
As you can see, I have somewhat of a love/hate relationship with coffee. But in all honesty, it really is best not to need it and to concentrate on improving your health and conditioning. God bless ya and stay strong.EXPECT THE BEST - PREPARE FOR THE WORSE
KEEP ON PREPPING

Just noticed that today the SurvivalBlog.com has a discussion on a post of 2 days ago on coffee. Seems the storage and preservation of coffee is a HOT subject on any forum.
Now, I love my coffee and would love to have it forever in the PAW. I have stored some freeze dried instant only because someone said it lasts a long time. I made a decision that the money I spent on 'coffee preps' would better be spent on nutritious food.
Would love to hear from someone who has tried to grow coffee.

Hi to all ...
When I first began prepping, among the first things I started on was coffee. I bought several large cans of ground and several jars of instant. At the time, I'd never even heard of the green coffee beans! I'd planned to store in mylars but thru another forum learned regular ground coffee will lose it's flavor in a year or two (even in the mylars) and I think they said the instant is better kept sealed in the unopened jars.
I'd appreciate any information y'all might have. I, too, dearly love coffee. Getting thru tense moments? My coffee is an essential prep!
Thank you! ... Robin
