If you drink coffee you might think about stocking up, if you haven't already. You've heard about the deluge in Brazil, and the problems they're having right now? I read something that said they produced about half of the coffee beans they normally produce. I don't know how much that will impact us, but you gotta know the price is going up, and I wouldn't be surprised if it went up a LOT. Any old excuse will do when you want to raise prices on what you want to sell, right?

Freeze dried coffee will keep a long time and takes up little space. I don't use it now, but in a future time it could be gold!

Stocking up on coffee now. Even though I limit my self to how much coffee, it's something I have to have. I am known as the "Old grump" with out it. lol
I need to try some of that freeze dried coffee Monel mentioned.

Besides, a world without coffee is..is...down right uncivilized.

I read earlier today that the Ivory Coast has suspended all of its coffee and chocholate export.

I can't stand that stinky bean juice! :p

My wife on the other had can't live without it. I bought her a case of canned green coffee beans for LTS. We opened one can so we could get a little practice roasting them.

If you're going to store coffee long term, you'd better be thinking green beans.

Where would I find the "Green Beans"? I cannot live without my Black Medicine Water.

You can see if you can find them on the net. If you have any local coffee merchants near by you can try them. I used to get mine from a local merchant, but where I've moved, there are none.

I used a website called Chowhound (great site for finding restaurants and mainstream food stuff) to find local coffee roasters. I called a couple and one was willing to sell me the unroasted beans. The place I used was really nice and shared some tips and tricks on roasting my own stuff. I’ve been thinking if I get good at roasting I might try ordering online from someplace like http://www.greencoffees.com/ because the prices are cheaper then what I’m paying now.

Just a comment about green coffee. Please practice roasting, grinding and actually making coffee with the green beans. Roasting is an art, and I understand from a thread on another forum that in the beginning people tend to over roast them.

Jack, when you get good at roasting - share your secret - pics would be nice.

One other quick note about roasting coffee: Do it in a VERY well ventilated area. I was in a large kitchen while someone was roasting beans, and it got really intense. Not as bad as the time my ex made some kind of pepper gas, but close. Might be an excellent time to check out those gas masks to make sure they seal well....
