I uncovered the garden and everything is still alive, with the herbs looking especially refreshed from their warmer bed. The nights are supposed to stay above the frost point for now, so I can move on to other things, like packing up Christmas cookies and getting gifts delivered. I considered an indoor garden but for now, the house is cluttered with DME and I don't need to add to that mess😂

Merry Christmas Eve eve....cookies are delivered and now to wrap a few gifts for just us, and I'm done. I even managed to get the tree decorated last night. Better late than never. Even though it's not huge, my new firewood rack holds more than 2x what my old single tier one did. I also put the partially full log carrier on the back porch - cold spell is coming! I've had the fire going almost all day, and have barely put a dent in the top level 👍
Lost a whole squash vine - not sure what happened to it but it looks like the vine was broken during high winds. I cut it, trashed it, and will hope for the best for the rest of the squash.Comment

Got me a sunflower that is growing better now then in the summertime. This thing is close to six feet tall and started on its own from a seed it dropped. I am waiting to see if it will bloom. If it does, the bees and other pollinators will enjoy the treat in winter.Protecting the sheep from the wolves that want them, their family, their money and full control of our Country!

Pollinators are still enjoying squash blossoms, but who knows for how long? I need to start some cabbage, turnips, etc. Mostly I'm being a wuss and staying warm in the house😂Comment

This sunflower is amazing me. It is taller and looks healthier then those during spring/summer. It is now about 6'6" tall and showing many flower buds. The leaves are huge. I cannot wait til it blooms, if it does. God amazes us all the time, if we are looking.Protecting the sheep from the wolves that want them, their family, their money and full control of our Country!

I love sunflowers, yet somehow mine have always ended up blown over here in too-breezy alley. Before the storm hit yesterday, I put a frost blanket over my squash plants to save them from a battering, and as soon as the storm passed, I pulled the cover off. All is well in the squash garden. I have one large and several small squash still growing.Comment

My squash plants are much worse for the wear, and I'm not sure I'll end up with anything from them. Maybe it's just time to regroup😂
