  • My husband hates having his picture taken, so I took advantage of the family gathering to get lots of photos 😉

Tonight the frost blankets go on - it's going to get into the 30's the next two nights! I put out another tomato cage for one squash plant that was crawling halfway across the walkway between the containers - I don't know why I didn't think of this last summer, because they work great!

      • Dang!
My last three morning were 5 degrees F and this morning 9 degrees F.
OTOH, it is Colorado at 7500 feet.

          • Thankfully, my garden survived a frost overnight and is looking green and healthy. I picked one kind of sad but usable Bell pepper today and scowled at a lot of jalapenos that refuse to quit growing😉 Maybe tomorrow I'll pick some of them and get them in the freezer after I put up the new flag. I haven't had much time for gardening since my husband's surgery but things may quiet down over the next week. I still need to put up my Christmas tree and decorations, and get my Christmas baking done. Time is getting away from me. I made some whole berry cranberry sauce that needs to get into the canner - maybe this weekend while I'm baking cookies?

I finished organizing the new closet, which means I have to take my Rack #1 storage food inventory and update locations for everything! (Rack #2 needs to be moved to the new closet as well but there's still room.) The inventory can wait because now I can actually see everything. The VA sent a spiffy hospital bed, and my neighbors had sheets to fit it, so my husband won't get strangled again by the too-big sheets I had to put on it yesterday😂 One of my neighbors came down and helped me break down beds, move furniture around, and drag the old guestroom bed out to the curb. The ramp vendor came out today and installed a new ramp with a platform at our front door, which will make going in and out easier; however, my ladder barely fits between the ramp and the front window where I need to hang Christmas lights. Never a dull moment around here...it's no wonder I can't get ahead of anything while dealing with the immediate activity🙄 If I didn't have a well-developed sense of humor, I'd have gone crazy (crazier?) a long time ago!

There are more shelves above and to the right

Question: Should I rent a storage unit to get some of the overflow/excess furniture out of here, or should I focus on getting the motorhome running (dead inaccessible-to-me battery) and sold along with the RV carport? Those two things gone would provide a 12'x30' open area for a large storage building of our own; I've been putting $ aside to get one, although the proceeds from the MH would pay for it. I'm trying to prioritize the next cleanup/cleanout project.

            • Don't you hate those peppers when they keep growing? LOL

              • I picked almost all of them last week and now I have just as many more this week😂 I'll just wash them, flash freeze, and vacuum seal for the freezer. Jalapenos are probably the least labor-intensive vegetable I grow❤️ While they are prolific producers, I may plant just one next year!

                • A couple dozen jalapenos and three Bell peppers picked today, and there are still a bunch of baby jalapenos the size of the fingernail on my little finger. I did get the new flag hung and my husband tried out the new wheelchair ramp and BAM! No slipping anywhere 😁Still haven't gotten the outside Christmas lights up but now it looks like it's going to rain ⛈️ so I'll wait until tomorrow morning. Husband is napping in the living room, so I can't do the tree today either. I have to bake this weekend, and do some canning, and decorate....but life is good here in spite of lingering projects.

                  • Glad to hear wheelchair ramp is working fine. I have a few peppers growing on a plant that I thought was going to die...but has made a 180 degree turn around. One pepper is about 4" long just waiting til it starts turning red...

                    • The weather here right now is gorgeous - 80o, sunny, with a light breeze. I was going to do my Christmas lights around the front window, but after putting up some other outside decorations, I was sweating😂 Tomorrow morning is good enough!

Squash is looking lush and healthy. The tomato cages I put out for them are working well so far. I have one spaghetti squash showing - a lot of male blossoms and not enough female blossoms to suit me!

                      • the only thing I have in my garden is the two pepper plants. One now has two 4" peppers on it....that plant just decided it was time to produce....LOL

                          • I picked the last half-dozen jalapenos and didn't bother to cover the plants up with a frost blanket. I used both frost blankets to cover the squash and the herbs. It's time to pull everything in the "pepper" container and put it to bed for a month or two. After Christmas is over and we get into 2024, I'll start picking up 6-8 bags of raised bed soil every week and start out fresh for spring. If I can get the motorhome and RV carport sold, I'll put up a big ol' storage shed where the motorhome currently sits, and tear down the 8x10 metal shed and convert that ground to more garden! Then I'll get a solid shade structure put up over the old and new garden space.

                              • I just planted a few herbs in my aero garden. Thought I had some lettuce, but nope...so its ordered and should be here tomorrow. I like to grow the lettuce indoors in the winter. I only need a couple plants or the bride and I....
