It did Grand. FOr real long term storage, I'll plan on wrapping several more layers of the plastic wrap in those problem areas and 'double bag' when vacuum sealing; seal it up then put that in another bag and seal THAT one too, for protection against abrasion and such. It was pretty tough even with one bag- I rubbed it against the grain of a textured container I had available and it took some work to pierce the vacuum bag, those things are pretty stout.
All in all, this is how I plan to store my 'precious metals' if I ever need to. Might even do it for my trunk guns to keep them fresh, up here in the damp NW, I have to pull them out and clean and lube them monthly or the corrosion starts.Brokedownbiker

Wow those look great. could do long guns that way also. I have never used the oxygen absorbers but would they tie up the oxygen then in that to prevent rust?
I have lots of barreled receiver project rifles that I think this would be a great way to package without having to worry about rust getting to them?

My worry would be the break down of the saran wrap or the natural cohesiveness of it turning it into a large blob of saran wrap that would be hard to remove. I've thought of doing this but using some old clean cotton sheats for an initial wrap then put into bag with dessicant packs, seal, and then additional bag vac sealed over that with some cleaning, oiling items placed alongside in the outer bag.
Any thoughts on the use of the cotton sheets? Pros - Cons?

Cotton sheets should work just fine. Or any material for that matter like old t-shirts, jeans, etc.
Possibly even heavy paper like grocery bags or the kind like in packing material. Old newspapers might work as well as long as you double wrapped it. Even a gun magazine with AR15s being the centerfold pictures that gets shipped to you as packing material by a die hard AK (but closet AR lover) fan. That could work as well. :D
The possibilities are endless on this as to the "packing" material so to speak. I wouldn't imagine the saran wrap would break down any more than the bags themselves, but never hurts to be cautious.Experience is a cruel teacher, gives the exam first and then the lesson.
