Had one about 10 years ago. Thought it sounded neat so I ordered one. The one I had, the barrel was a rifled peice of thin walled tubing with ouside being polymer/plastic giving it the dimensions/profile of a normal barrel. I tried hard to like it but never could warm up to it. It was the least accurate 22lr I've shot outside of a NAA mini revolver and it would misfeed at least once every twenty-five rounds or so. I may have just gotten a lemon though.
I bought a used AR7 years ago with a broken site. The metal is either aluminium or some type of pot metal. I was thinking about having one made for me out of steel it definitely seems like the weak point, the original mags are weak also. imo
I have one. I have used it to take small game, squirrels, rabbits, grouse.... It is crude but works OK. It is good stored in a boat or kayak or in a backpack. I am thinking of converting a 1022 to a folding stock and composite barrell with a red dot sight. I cant see through the peep sight very well in low light. CC
the peep sight has two holes i put mine on the smaller one and it helped except for low light. Im thinking about removing the front plastic sight, drilling and tapping and installing a small stud. it wont be adjustable so i will have to set it up for a specific range but then again the original sights arent adjustable either. I didnt purchase mine for a daily shooter it usually stays on the shelf till i go backpacking and then it rarely comes out of the pack it is only for emergencies. the xd-45 is for everything else. i also thought about a 1022 but i believe the ar-7 would still lighter.
Many years ago, I had a couple of them. Was never impressed with them. I found a good target .22 handgun with a red dot sight worked better for a food gathering/camp gun.
I've always liked the concept of having a rifle all packed away in it's stock. I figured it would be a handy thing to have for canoeing, or if you were a bush pilot, things like that were a wilderness survival situation may arise.
I didn't read this thread at first, I thought it was going to be someone extolling the virtues of the AR-7 and how it was the only gun you would need. Glad I was wrong.
Pray for Obama, Psalms 109:8. Before you judge me, look it up.
