I had purchased a Beeman RS1 Sportsman Series Dual Caliber (.177 and .22) from a local gun store. Only to my chagrin did I find out afterwards that the trigger pull on that model was 900 lbs. (ok maybe not quite that bad but bad enough to through my shot). Anywho contacted Beeman, in California of all places, sent them $35 and they replaced the whole works with the RS2 Sportsman Series Dual Caliber plus 2 new barrels and this model has an adjustable 2 stage trigger!! Haven't got to shoot it yet but my finger is itching.

Does wonders on rabbits and birds.

If I were buying today, I think the best buy over all in a "Quality" spring gun is an Air Arms TX200. You get what you pay for.
Don't fall for the marketing hype about velocity. You don't want your pellet going over the sound barrier. It becomes unstable and thus looses accuracy.

@Monel: I do not think many people are using these high velocity air rifles for long range shooting, but rather using the high velocity to up the stopping power of short range kills.

Sorry but I don't post much, but the advice above is a sure way to go to jail.
To go that route apply for the form 1 at a licensed NFA dealer wait 4-6 months. When approved buy the can and have a professional gunsmith install it.

The poster above is the type to draw the wrong kind of attention to this great forum, not to mention giving dangerous advice.

He was taken care of by ADMIN last night. I was trying to get him shut down. You are most correct Metal, good call, and this is not what this site is about!

I'll just get to the nut of it ...
Get one of the many fine rifles with the Crossman Nitro Piston ... Much quieter and easier to c o c k ... and less recoil.

Get a .22calibre chambering, and go with one of the premium heavy (heaviest) lead pellets ...
These will be of higher energy ... larger diameter ... and will be SUBSONIC .

The Nitro Piston, coupled with a heavy subsonic round is WAY WAY more quiet and powerful than any other config.

(and legal to shoot, in every municiplaity that I know of ... i.e. are Legal, within the corporate limits).

This one is on my short list ... or the Gamo whisper or the Bone collector .. .22 cal.

Check out this great deal on the Crosman Nitro Venom Dusk. Need advice? Let our airgun specialists help you today!

etcetera ... just search "Nitro Piston 22" and choose "shopping" tab.

              'Nuff said.

Obviously we had a spammer and he's gone now.

I have a Crossman (rated @ 1000 fps) that is intended to take small game. I practice with it about four times a year. I also used it to teach one of my grand kids gun safety before I got him his first BB gun.

My very best shot with the rifle was a head shot on a pigeon at about 35 yards. I'll admit it was more to luck than my prowess with the pellet rifle, but still something to brag about LOL
