i am allergic to both lidocaine and benzocaine, so for my med procedures they last used a freezing spray. Ice would numb things enough for me, but unless the cut were very deep and absorbable sutures were required, I would tend to use butterfly closures. My mother used them on many, many cuts which others would have stitched. Worked fine, no scars, no trauma.
My last ditch plan is chloroform, but it is risky.

It is uncommon to be allergic to Lidocaine, but it can happen. I have seen patients allergic to the preservative in Lidocaine, but are okay with preservative free lidocaine.

Kappydell, have you seen an allergist? They may be able to determine an anesthetic that you would be able to use. This may be very important at some point of time.

Whatever the case stay legal. Also know that lidocaine Preservatives can breakdown overtime putting a multiuse bottle at risk for contamination. The epi effect of Lido with epi wears off petty quickly in the heat. I can always tell when it's summertime in the south. Stay legal make friends with a like minded doctor who can legally help you.
