Anxious to try out the new laundry detergent ingredients we're going to order for a homemade recipe. If it works it will save us big bucks compared to store bought detergents. Combination of Fel's Naptha, Arm and Hammer Washing Soda and Borax. Anybody tried it?

My wife has used it for a couple of years, now. Seems to be just fine.
When the woman at the door screeched, "Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms!" I, naturally, assumed it was a delivery....

Greg is this the formula you use?

Same recipe, but my wife makes it into a powder, by grating the Fels Naptha very fine. No water or cooking involved. She uses it daily, plis, we have four or five (hafta go look) 6gal buckets of the stuff in the supplies.

Is this the recipe you've been using Karen? If so, I wonder if there's something that could be added to give the cleaned laundry a fresh scent.

You can add essential oils to your soap for a fresh scent. The website that I have taken my homemade laundry soap recipe is this one: http://www.thefamilyhomestead.com/laundrysoap.htm And she suggests using 1/2 oz. to 1 oz. of essential oil or fragrance oil to your soap. I am sure if you search the web you can find more information on this.

            I hope this helps,

              Justified,
My bad. She also adds baking soda. This gets her the freshness that she's so **** about. We've been married 40 years and I wouldn't trade her for a spotted puppy!

                LOL Thanks Greg!

Years ago I was standing in line at a grocery store register and there was a husband and wife in front of me. The husband was telling the clerk his wife just turned 30 years old. He said he told her that when she turned 32 years old he was going to trade her in for two 16 year olds. If the look she gave him could kill?....Let's just say they'd have been pickin' up what was left of him with a stick and a spoon!...chuckle...
