Welcome from Georgia. I left Boloxi in 1962 and haven't been back since, heard a lot of changes have taken place. I'm not interested in gambling, but I may have to drive down hwy 90 sometime when I'm heading west.

      We're glad you're here.

Thanks for the welcome, HWY 90 is completely different, first the casinoes then Katrina...its a completely different world now. So many common landmarks, like the houses and ancient oaks are no longer there. About the only thing you might recall is the lighthouse, it still stands proud and true even as it did back when I was a kid in the early 70s.

Good to hear at least one thing remains :-) I was stationed in Biloxi in 72/73. Good times!!!

Yeah that is one thing that rarely changes for those that serve in this area...most that do serve in this area remember it fondly..something no storm or mob money can take away :D

Not specifically in Biloxi, but I did serve on the Gulf Coast just down the ways at Eglin. Most beautiful beaches and water I think I've ever seen. Truly the Emerald Coast.

My flight chief asked me if I was sure when I was leaving if I was sure I wanted to go. Being young and "wanting to see the world" I left in my youthful ignorance. One thing he told me before leaving was "folks spend their entire careers trying to get back to the Gulf Coast."

Sure enough, I shoulda listened as I've spent my entire career trying to get back. But I was young and "that old man didn't know what he was talking about" lol.

              BTW, welcome to the boards!

thanks for the welcome, and dont worry even non service folks spend lifetimes getting back to the Gulf...we used to vacation here when I was a kid, parents camped right there on the beach by the lighthouse, and on down to Panama Beach at some campground....I was hooked ever since, have lived all over the eastern coast as an adult; Va, Pa, Nj, SC...none of it meets up to the Gulf so we moved home...now I refuse to move more than an hour away from it.
