Just get yourself a bottle of Bt, mix with water and spray those beans. Kills ALL plant eating worms in a heartbeat and kills nothing else. Good for all types of worms including those web worms/coddling moth worms that decimate fruit trees.

Don't know if I would use it:

I have also found other sites saying its safe and the EPA says its safe (so it must be right...lol). So I would say become way more knowledgeable about it before using it.

ok BT got it,killin worms as we type. just did a second re spray after 4-5 days .
Had to install a new h20 heater....found out there were wild critters ( stray cats ,dillos) under the house. which brings more pest AKA fleas.
                  I hate fleas..hate them,,hate them.
i found that out whjile doing the h20 heater. Didnt have any under there till the rains stopped.
i just spread about 75000 sq ft worth of yard treatment under there and a second 6ft wide spread the stuff around the whole house. i can feel a thrid eye growing from the back of my head right now....
also had a water valve in the bath vanity leak...its fixed....

                  what next LMAO.

                    Home ownership lol

I thought I was getting a jewel, found out there was a lot of band aid work done to sell. Nothing major as the four walls are still standing and the roof keeps the rain off my head, but my list of "do's" is growing as is the cost associated with same. If I were you, I wouldn't even look at the electrical yet lol. Some of the wiring in my house dates to the 70s...probably even further back. All tied into two (yes, for some odd reason two) main breaker panels, of which one is fed from the other for reasons I'm still unclear about. But since it predates the code, it was okay to sell that way. So moral of the story, don't look at the electrical until after you get the rest done lol

But seriously, you appear to be having a ball, besides your flea problems.

to late that was one of the 1st things i looked at.
I have....a main panel. with 1 150 amp main breaker...some 30-50;s and 2 20's . Then a 100 amp. well...the 100 amo feeds the origmal panel in the kitchen.. which is an FPE panel...they suck btw, Anyway...that feeds part of the house,,,the h2o heater is run off 2 20 amp;s in other words they ran it off a leg from each side. then there's a sub panel in the ultility room,
So..i turn off the 100. all power goes out except some lights under the house LOL. There is also a panel at the shed/pole barn deal. i havent even attempted to test or try it out yet becuase that building is on its last leg imho and i know the lights etc dont work,....
the plumbing is like a mario brothers maze on crack...LOL.

all simple fixes just more fun down the road.luckily i have mad repair skills and can do most of all the repairs myself.
fixed a roof leak as well the other day and cleaned off the hickory tree junk out of a few gutters.

Great thread. You're nailing alot of the differences between city/suburban and country life. A few big points you made so far that I agree with-

                            1) You need a fuel efficient vehicle. Huge 4x4s are cool if you

Will, you hit the nail on the head with your last posts. "Going to town " is a mapped out venture. Yard work involves alot of round-up.

funny you brought up the weed killer. I spray all the area i can mow with it already LOL. edging the drive way Nope...just spray it with weed killer.
By sprig our garden will be double its size, and done up better. we kinda rushed to get it going before winter i didnt want to wait to have stuff growing. i still chuckle at the compost heap thats producing sprouts from sqaush, zucks and other melons /peppers lol.

small genny and some back up stuff like that will be my next big thing after we get the basics all covered and finished settling in.

oh and watching a deer get nailed at 60 mph and land 20 ft in front of your truck on your AM commute with 4 other cars wakes you up fast LAMO
