Ya Matt, I like her videos. One thing she did not address and her website she sends you to does not, is infant rehydration.
Most children under the age of 2 cannot be "told" drink drink drink... I have found the easiest way to "trick" them into increasing their water intake is to buy the cheapest brand of popsickles (I prefer to buy the sugar free ones)... Once the kids are old enough to, Gatorade can be used (as well as other sport drinks) but the preferred drink for kids under 8 is still Pedialyte. If you look at it, it has a S/L of almost a year. As a Dad, I always have two bottles in the cabinet next to the refrigerator. The rule of thumb for infants, atleast 3 wet diapers a day (not counting the diarrhea obviously).

    Homemade Oral Rehydration Procedure!!

Preparing 1 (one) Litre solution using Salt, Sugar and Water at Home

Mix an oral rehydration solution using one of the following recipes; depending on ingredients and container availability:

    Ingredients:

    Half (1/2) teaspoon of Salt

    Six (6) teaspoons of Sugar

One Litre of clean drinking or boiled water and then cooled - 5 cupfuls (each cup about 200 ml.)
    Preparation Method:

Stir the mixture till the salt and sugar dissolve.

    Hope this helps! :)

OH, try to avoid OTC anti-diarrheal medicines unless directed by a doctor that it is safe to do so.
These OTC meds work by slowing down the body's bowel movement, when in reality the body is doing what it needs to, increasing bowel movement to get that bacteria or parasite OUT as soon as possible.

      Summary:
      1) Start rehydrating immediately after first "squirt" if it lasts more than 24hrs, see a doc.
      2) If it is accompanied with a high fever, see a doc immediately.

Even when folks think they are on the good side on the island, filter your water when in doubt !

behold the toothless tiger and a real threat we should prepare for in the event of PAW because we will be our only help
As the annual rainy season gathers over Haiti, bringing the risk of a renewed cholera epidemic that first struck in October 2011, growing numbers of health care professionals and relief workers are openly critical of the United Nations — which many believe brought the deadly disease to Haiti in the first place.
