Yes he did pass away. Now the family wants answers..

They want to know why he didnt get the drug earlier.
They want to know why he didnt get blood from the other ebola survivors like the camerman. ( As far as I know it was donated from the survivor, free will to do as he pleases with HIS blood. Is there some law that says he has to give his blood.)

Its sad that a man lost his life. But he lied to get in the US. I understand the family wants answers.

And why have we not closed the hotspots into the US?

Rockriver we the tax payers will pay the bill, I wouldnt be suprised if they file a lawsuit over this. Just have to wait and see.

The Frisco, Texas patient has been identified as a Dallas County Sheriff's deputy.

The patient "exhibiting signs and symptoms" of Ebola claims to have had contact with family members of the man diagnosed with the disease in Dallas. But the person did not have contact with Thomas Eric Duncan.

Find it odd that this low risk Deputy might have it but not the family that had physical contact with Duncan dont.

o.0 watching to much news again today..

The CDC confirmed a second case of Ebola in Texas. The patient was an RN who had extensive contact with the Liberian who lied his way into the US. The RN was in full protective gear but still managed to get infected. Supposedly, the RN did not follow the proper protocols when taking off the protective gear. Seems to me gov't officials are not being straight with us about the contagiousness of this disease. If someone can get infected just by taking off protective gear then how can the gov't claim that passengers riding on a plane flight lasting hours have little or no likelihood of getting infected?

This just doesn't pass the smell test.

                travelling

I have some long distance trips coming up in the short term..
I really need to make the trips.
                however...
if ebola is popping up in multiple cities and multiple sick folks per big city...
heck no... I ain't gonna go...

I might even be a d.a. for still considering it!

I agree, there is a lot of information that doesn't pass the sniff test. However, this nurse could have just screwed up once, and that was all it took. Let me explain. Most likely there were a limited amount of people that were allowed into his room, a couple doctors, a handful of nurses and respiratory therapists and probably a few others. The docs prob went into the room a couple times a day, same with the others except the nurses. They probably went into and out of his room 12-25 times each 12 hour shift. Anytime he called they would have to go in. Anytime meds needed to be given, meals, cleaning him, changing the sheets, emptying his Foley catheter, changing the IV bags, etc. all it would have taken was one simple little mistake like taking off her gloves before removing the gown. Sure, she's a professional and has done things a certain way thousands of times, but all it takes is one mistake.

Now again, the sniff test still smells bad, I agree. They told us we couldn't catch it from a sneeze, well the WHO thinks different. http://www.globalresearch.ca/world-h...rfaces/5407164

Yes, #2 was one of his primary caregivers to #1 while he was in ICU.

Word from my "Institute of Higher Learning" medical facility is that they, as well as many other high-risk medical facilities (that have foreign students), are getting aggravated by the LACK of information being passed down to them. The medical providers here still do not know how the nurse was infected, or if it was respiratory and the N95 masks did not keep Ebola virus out (only 95% rating for N95). There is concern that they are not being told "everything" and that it may require high-level protective gear.

You start pissing off lots of physicians, nurses, and admins by not sharing info and heads will roll...

Thanks for remembering... I have a whole sealed box of M13A2 filters for the M17-series and Czech M10M masks, so I am good. Those masks are backup to the backup, or for barter or loan. My primary are Micronel/3M M95 and Canadian C4 as backup, with quite a few P100 filters for them. The P100's are now expired in 2012, so ask me if I care... LOL! I trust them...

Maybe another has use of those filters?

Hey folks I found a link to a CDC document that outlines how to handle and work around Ebola patients. Be warned though this document is from 1998 and may not reflect the reality that this strain is much different than the strain they battled in 1995. That being said though there is still tons of good information about standards and isolation and is a great starting point for dealing with ANY infectious disease. Again keep in mind this manual is written with the assumption that Ebola is not airborne or even aerosolized so adapt your precautions accordingly.. I know it's 200 pages long and it can be somewhat difficult to get through but seriously its only 200 pages and there is some very good tidbits of info in it.
The downloadable PDF is at the bottom of the page

This may be a little more up to date.

They call it a pocket guide....I chuckled when I saw the "pocket guide" had 113 pages.

I also just read an article that said patients lost 5-10 liters of fluid a day. Essentially they need one-on-one management just to maintain hydration and electrolyte balance. With that kind of loss, when a patient shows up 3-5 days into the sickness the electrolytes are way off. They also found that the body weights of the patients increased by 15 to 20 kg, yet they were hypovolemic because of third-spacing and had vascular damage and low albumin. With that kind of fluid shifting the patients had hypokalemia, hypocalcemia, hyponatremia, and nutritional deficiency.

I found this interesting, at Emory viral RNA was detected on skin and in blood, urine, semen, vomit, stool, and endotracheal suctioning. However, it was not in dialysate, on environmental surfaces in the bathroom, or on high-touch areas on the day of patient discharge.

I cannot post the link to the article as it's on a site I need to log into. These are some highlights.
