I was thinking about sitting in the living room, watching Red Dawn while cleaning my rifle. But instead spent a little time at work this am, taking the rest of the day as leasure. Tomarrow packing some buckets and and honey do's. Also started reading "The Prince". Old book recommended by a good friend.

Great day watching both my kids shoot, do it safely, work the targets for other shooters and cheer others on even if they don't know them! Onward to BBQ day tomorrow.
Think about this- make a fist and with your right hand slowly punch straight out in front of you like a jab. Hold it when it's at full extension.
Your hand IS canted right? So why turn the gun directing straight up and down when shooting one handed then? See what I mean? Hold your fist out straight like a punch for a couple seconds. Now picture or put a pistol in your hand and turn your wrist so the pistol is perfectly upright. Feel the tension in your forearm? Tension isn't good for shooting. Can you shoot this way? Sure you can. But you can also shoot with the gun slightly canted- in the punch example above- WITHOUT the tension in your forearm. Some jokingly call it "half homey."
In this case it helps with your vision also.
Most of the pistol practice I've been doing the last year or so has been one handed and left handed point shooting. For most of us our non dominant hand is kinda "dumb" (for lack of a proper term :) Yet we have to develop the same "feeling" in our left handed trigger control, point shooting abilities, etc.
Glad to hear you got it figured out.
Being able to draw with your left hand when your right is out of comission is important also.www.homesteadingandsurvival.com

If you notice Rob Leatham turns his sideways slightly when one hand shooting in competition. He told me at a seminar thing he was at that it was to help with recoil but if it clears your vision then to heck with what the gunwriters say do it.Knowledge is Power, Practiced Knowledge is Strength, Tested Knowledge is Confidence

picked up a cast iron dutch oven at the flea market and seasoned it. found a cobbler recipe for some outdoor cooking, if the rain holds off.
like most weekends, working a honey-do list. restoring a room after a teenager flew the nest. got the ceiling painted last week and all the walls patched. Now the infernal sanding. thank god for N95 dust masks.

Well on Monday I did:
1. Examined ammo boxes to verify ammo counts on spreadsheet... Fondled .308 ammo that is impossible to find now days...
2. Prepared everything to take the FAL, my AR15, and the Ruger 10/22 to the range tomorrow to verify zeros...
3. Organized safe...
What a beautiful day to do this here in VA... One of the best days of the year maybe...

And the ribs were awesome that I smoked today. Made a smoker out of an old gas grill by dividing the top half with a piece of steel that has about an inch opening at the top and putting some bricks in the bottom to divide that section. Now I can put charcoal on one side and the heat and smoke go over the top barrier to the side the meat is on. Free and effective.Last edited by LizardKing; 09-06-2010, 09:31 PM.What a long, strange trip it's been.....
