Most outdoor survival situations are created by a series of things classified as failures. When we look back at them we can see where things went wrong and what we need to do to avoid them to stay safe
series of things going wrong leading up to this:
#1 someone should know your whereabouts, when, where, what time etc.
#2 If your on a road and you wish to find a larger road don't leave the road, roads lead to other road also people looking for you will start on the roads. Isn't this right 1st responders and SRTs? We drive around looking for a start point or signs long before we start bush poking.
#3 The GMHB woulda been real nice for a feller to have, shoot even some snacks and a bottle of water, anything. A rental car IMO is all the more reason to have stuff with you because you don't know the vehicles capabilities, mechanical issues or history so it's a gamble.
anything else I'm missing?
