Thanks for bearing with us everyone. It was a damn stressful day for me as you can imagine.

In the future I'm gonna see about this email program specific for the forum members that Vbulletin board offers. I notice most survival forums using them to "keep in touch" with members. I could have very easily let EVERYONE on the forums know immediately what was going on last night with that feature. Could have saved a lot of "what the?" thoughts on a lot of people's minds.

whewwww!!! glad you got the problem fixed..i thought i had dun went and "pooped" n my mess kit..then i couldnt remember "pooping" then i thought maybe that dreaded "old timers dizease" had finally consumed me. Getting the site back up and gettin off the "list" is like Santa coming twice in same year..

So oddly enough before I left Thursday their was virtually NO hate mail in the hotmail box regarding the outage. I thought that was really odd. Well evidently hotmail was slow getting them in cause their are 600 "why was I banned" emails in there that I just now am able to see.

I don't have the time to respond to every one of them, so if your a "regular" or I remember seeing you on the boards since the outage, I'm not going to respond to your email, sorry, but I think you know the site was down now... :)

I had emailed Jim Rawles asking him to run a blurb on Survivalblog telling people we had technical problems here on the site so that no one would think they were "banned" but he has not run it... Please continue to get the word out if you hear anyone crying about getting "banned" here in the last month- I don't think we have had to legitimately "ban" anyone in a few weeks.

We are DEFINITELY going to hook up an forum email newsletter deal, I just do not have the time to respond to 600 "why was I banned" emails. I started when I posted that last post and I'm probably only 50 or so in.....

Funny thing was , I hadnt posted in a few months , posted something , a few hours later I was banned . I was ut oh I did something wrong , then I was couldnt even go back to see if autospell had worded something thing wrong hehe .

Only ONE person out of several hundred acted like an arsehole about the glitch- if I was the arsehole he assumed I was, I would have actually banned him for being such a jerk on email.... Maybe he will consider that. You know who you are.

I know I am responsible for at least 435 of those emails, but I think that if only one person was a jerk - it says something about the community you have cultivated here.

Glad I wasn't the jerk in the email but I did send one asking why. Funny thing is I had told my wife about the post I made in the welfare cheat thread and when I tried to log in and show it to her it said I was banned.... she looked at me and asked "what did you say about welfare cheats that got you banned". She had her hands on her hips lookin at me like I was a moron. "Honey, I didn't say anything bad...... I don't think" she shook her head in disgust turned and walked away. Now I gotta get on here at a decent hour and show her I'm not the moron she thinks I am.

Well maybe not as big of a moron.

jerk!?! I'm right here and can hear you LOL naw just kidding, kudos to everyone who helped me cause the gremlins got me hard even over the glitch as I sit in a store parking lot typing this cause i still cant figure it out with my server. good place to be and too bad for them that is skeered to jump in

We will be testing the forum email thing here soon. This will be an alternate way to contact forum members if a technical problem comes up again and to just kinda stay in touch. I've noticed about 4 other forums use this sort of thing now also- so we won't be the first doing it.

Won't be something you'll have to get all the time, etc. You may get a couple a month. If you don't want to get them, you'll just use the opt out option and that will be that.


I don't have time to respond to 600 or more emails if a glitch comes up again, so this is the only option for alternate contact. I'm sure their are probably still a few out there that probably think they were 'banned' that day. They will soon know they weren't if they didn't get the message already.
