My son is really wanting to see this movie in the theaters. Is this something a 10yo could handle? I saw the rating was PG13, which could include alot of things. If its the language or violence I can discuss that with him. I'd rather not have an extended discussion of the birds and bees at this point though. Your thoughts?

There is one or two scenes of light kissing (guy rescues girl....) nothing other than that. Cussing is at minimum, as is gore. Violence is there but you don't see "all the splatter" of gunshots. As long as violence isn't an issue you should be good to go. Enjoy the movie with your son.Man created shotguns because God created cats.
Man, those Muslims sure are worried about what they eat. I went over there and all I heard was Alohaaaaa Snack-bar.

pretty much this. not much blood(besides 1-2 parts with wound care and 1-2 other parts i wont post- spoliers), but the acts of violence are there. cussing, was along the lines of " move your %3"..get your 6 out of here type comments, not any long winded cuss rants like most films these days.Originally posted by ibetiny View PostThere is one or two scenes of light kissing (guy rescues girl....) nothing other than that. I went with my brother the other night... First we watched the 1st so many times as a kids we could act out the whole movie and I believe this was a better movie. I was happy to see the change to "May I borrow you SAW Robert?" I was also glad to see that these guys "trained" alittle bit before trying to take on an organized force.
Any one notice the opening "news scenes" had alot of actual news footage.

Definitely lots of current news footage, good drawing together of current events to make the thing seem kinda sorta possible.
Also, when Matty and Jed first looked at the town, they made it clear that it was the whole country and not just "Spokane and Seattle." I can't tell you how many people I've talked to over the years that saw the first movie and thought the Russians invaded JUST THAT ONE TOWN IN COLORADO!!! WTH OVER??? LOL
Language- they use the "P" word several times, including Erica using it near the start of it, that's about the worst of it IIRC.
Violence is there, but nothing at all like a zombie movie, etc. My boy isn't much older, and he's seen it 4 times now. We are already cracking jokes to each other using movie lines while working around the property....
All showings we have seen so far have been relatively full, including the opening one at 2pm. LOTS of good ole boys and their wives and daughters watching this one down our way.www.homesteadingandsurvival.com

We hit the 130ish showing in town. Maybe 16 people mixed demographics..I expected more. But with holidays etc and the area the theater is at I guess that's OK. My kid and mom said their movie had about the same turn out.Hey Petunia...you dropped your man pad!

Theater here in liberal cess-pool Charlottesville, on Saturday afternoon 5pm showing, was PACKED! I estimate 200 or more people. It was a big theater.... But it is a new IMAX Regal, so lots of people going just to see the new Regal...
007 was on IMAX, not Red Dawn... LOL!

Saw it coming home from vacation on Saturday. Small suburb of Macon. Theater was about half full, mixed demographics. Show time was 7:30pm. Whole family liked the movie. Will try and make it back to see again now that I'm home.Protecting the sheep from the wolves that want them, their family, their money and full control of our Country!
Guns and gear are cool, but bandages stop the bleeding!

My oldest kid in her thirties just called me and told me that she wants to take me to see it. She had not seen the original so it was new to her. She recently really got back into survival after starting to go shooting again with us. For Christmas she is getting from me a Molle Pouch with a new Leatherman, compass, and other kits items. I am making them up for all the family this year. Plan to see the movie with my kids. GB

Saw it tuesday night theater was dead only 3 other people. I busted out laughing several times.
1. its not a "remake" its modern version of the old movie. Modern teens/young people/tech/pop culture references. it is NOT exactly like the old movie
2. it was well done. the special effects and explosions were better than the original. the plot was good.
the only thing I thought it was really weak on compared to the original was in the original the enemy is portrayed exactly as they were incredibly barbaric and ruthless. in this movie the Norks are not portrayed as evil as the cubans and russians in the original.
that was my only complaint.
favorite lines "YOU SANDWICH ARTIST FILL UP THIS BAG!"
and "I miss playing call of duty modern warfare...DUDE you're living Call of Duty..and it sucks!"
"there is a one hell of a gun fight going on in Florida" I was all like "hell yeah!"
there were some themes they didn't touch on in this movie like the last one. the emotional heart wrenching of killing a traitor for one. but again its a modern movie and not exactly like the old one."You are the Vice Regent of the Jews" -QRPRAT77

As for techy stuff..Robert had a Walkman back then that was the iPod of the day...also he had a starwars cap on.
My beef like yours is how some stuff that was important was left out..but expanded on.no Mr.Mason...but several people in the city helping them.the general progression of their weapons. This was shown in the 1st...but explained a Tad in the new one.
Liked the CCR on the radio ...did any catch the new code phrases mixed in with the originals .....Hey Petunia...you dropped your man pad!

To the resistance fighters in Humboldt.....
And to the Wolverines of Spokane.....
Keep up the pressure Patriots...
What they didn't seem to do- course I don't know the song they played- but if you listened really closely during the first go around, notes were just a little off key on the song they played right after that. It was a BTB not a bad rendition :)Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"
Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"
Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"

i know they played keep a light on by CCR and i think green river or one other the 1st time the got the radio working..but they had 2-3 code phrases before they slipped in the old ones...this was the second radio scene.
funny bunch of the stuff in the film goes hand in hand with the Xbox game homefront ( the stadium jails, school bus's check point set ups etc etc).then again the same people helped out with the game.Hey Petunia...you dropped your man pad!
