Most of our oil comes from Canada; 2nd most from Venezuela(if I remember correctly)and the least amount from the middle east. We also buy an enormous amount of refined oil because we don't have enough refineries.

    Despite BO's strangling regulations we have oil rigs popping up right and left in Oklahoma and other states like North Dakota. The Bakken formation alone represents five times the amount of oil of all known the middle eastern oil combined. If we were drilling and refining here, as we should be, we'd probably be paying less than a dollar a gallon for gas...as long as we could keep the feds from taxing it like crazy!

      Those "hug a trees" are being used by those who want to control and dominate this country through regulation and government control.

        Did you see where one of the striking Chicago teachers made the comment that they consider this strike their "Arab Spring"?

            Trust me, I'm not making excuses for the huggers...I resent their ignorance.

              The terrorists will get there hands on a nuke sooner rather than later. They will use it on Israel even if it destroys their own mosques and holy sites. The questions is, what will the rest of the middle east look like after wards. I expect Israel to nuke Tehran and a few other Muslim cities as payback. I expect Obama to apologize and offer to rebuild the muslim cities. I'm not sure what i expect Romney to do, but i think it wont be that.

              I would like to see new refineries in the US and i would like to see Romney open up all the US oil area to get it over with. Let's cut off all of OPEC and stop giving them money to kill us.

                Irish I'm 99% sure that Netanyahoo is aware of about every nuke possessed by the surrounding countries. Israeli intelligence and security is much better than any other country's that I'm aware of. That country has survived supernaturally for years and I believe it will continue to survive. When they know they can no longer wait to take out a nuclear facility that threatens them (like Iran) they will destroy them as they have in the past. I think Netanyahu is trying to wait until the U.S. election because he is guessing/hoping that Romney will win and, once again, Israel will have the friendship of the American government. Hopefully, for our sake, the escalating violence in the middle east will not break out into full scale war until BO is out of office.

                There hasn't been a new refinery built in the U.S. since the 1970s. The reason for that is that Carter created the Federal EPA and over the last 40 years their regulations have grown into a restrictive nightmare that many companies refuse to face. With current federal EPA regulations it is doggone near impossible to build a refinery in a timely manner and make it profitable. Having said that there are two refineries in the process of being built. One in South Dakota owned by Hyperion and one in Yuma owned by a company whose name escapes me at the moment. I read that China is building a refinery in Nigeria and has two more planned.

                Who knows? Romney is a big gov't. guy but he's a lot more open to drilling our own oil than BO is. I agree completely that we need to quit buying oil from the middle east. I think Romney will allow the Keystone pipeline to be completed from Canada. Cheaper for us.

                  hell before ww2 we were giveing scrap iron to japan so they could shoot us with it...seems we are alwazys helping our enemies. aint we ever going to learn?

                    This all boils down to NIMBY (not in my back yard) the same thing has happened with the nuclear power plants that have tried to set up in America no one wants to be neer them but they produce power that is a lot cheaper and cleaner than burning coal.

                      Unfortunately some of our leaders like to treat our enemies like the mafia. We pay them off to make them leave us alone. It doesn't work with theocrats....never has...never will.

                        I've always wondered who was behind everything that went on last year, the mastermind so to speak, and figured eventually everything would head south in those places. I've never believed it was just a popular uprising and they had to have been started behind the scenes by someone. And while the "excuse" was a movie that was made, I can't help but feel this was the plan all along and they finally had the spark to ignite the "go after anything American" movement. Call me crazy, but I feel like this was what "they" wanted all along.

                        Anyone else ever get that feeling we've been had? Not unlike Castro in Cuba, the Ayatollah in Iran, etc.
                        Grand I have that "feel bad" feeling myself. Questions are being raised about the coordination of the attacks as well as the interesting fact that these so called spontaneous protesters have very advanced weapons.

                        Unfortunately, so many things are going on, QE 3 or 4 or 5, who knows; the unbelievable effort of the media to control the Nov. election; the unions demanding money no one has; our world situation is dark and depressing.
