  • Is this the culmination of the revolutions?

I've just always had a bad feeling about what went on in the Middle East and North Africa last year. So when I saw the news yesterday from Egypt and Libya, I had those feelings come back.

So between the attacks on the Benghazi Consulate, the Egyptian Embassy and now the embassy in Tunisia, I am seeing a pattern. And while my tin foil could be a bit too tight, is this the culmination of the revolutions from last year? Anti-American sentiment from the masses? And was this the plan all along?

I've always wondered who was behind everything that went on last year, the mastermind so to speak, and figured eventually everything would head south in those places. I've never believed it was just a popular uprising and they had to have been started behind the scenes by someone. And while the "excuse" was a movie that was made, I can't help but feel this was the plan all along and they finally had the spark to ignite the "go after anything American" movement. Call me crazy, but I feel like this was what "they" wanted all along.

Anyone else ever get that feeling we've been had? Not unlike Castro in Cuba, the Ayatollah in Iran, etc.

I think you're right on the money Grand. This was orchestrated and had nothing to do with the movie. There are many youtube movies with anti-muslim content. This guy is a scapegoat for what started with the Arab Spring and, as you said, is coming full circle now.

I find it interesting that Ghadaffi and Mubarek have both been overthrown by "democratic" uprisings. Assad is next. I also find it interesting that in each uprising in Egypt, Libya and (soon)Syria the muslim brotherhood has taken power...the same outfit that spawned bin laden.

My guess is that, if not top dog, CAIRE is a major player in this. I think there are corrupt non-muslim forces behind this as well. If you'd have told me 4-5 years ago that some of these things would happen I would have laughed at you as I called the boys in white. Now, after spending much more time reading about U.S. and international history (not the revised crap they spread at universities) I keep my chin strap tight on my tinfoil hat.

BTW did you hear about one of the striking Chicago teachers that said this is their Arab Spring? Make sure your chin strap is made out of paracord...civil unrest is coming...don't know when but I think soon.

I think sometimes its cause the option is worse kinda like why we didnt drop hilter cause we knew his generals were smarter than him and we watched him run into the ground as well a why we didnt drop dufas during desert storm cause his takeover woulda been worse in ouir opinions
They hit us on sept11th which is not a fluke, big o aint gonna do nothing and isreal is scratchin their heads in wonder

There are several sources for this but here's the link. Sharpton was interviewing the teacher.

That's a good point about Hitler. If they'd managed to assassinate him early in the war, Germany might have recovered quicker than they did from the war and become a threat once again. As it was it took about 40 years for them to catch up with the rest of the world.

Here's a brief generalized history of Islam, the aftermath of the death Mohamed, world history since them, and the current formentings.
            This is my OPINION.
with a hard dose of FACT Sprinkled amongst the leaves, like Pine nuts in Mansif.
Once upon a time, a guy told a drunk priest he was hearing voices, he was a camel merchant from the arabian peninsula. The priest said: "Mebbe dem voices is from God!"
They guy thought the drunk was onto something, and started a religion that inspired pride in the people he came from. This religion was their own religion. It wasn't the Amalgamated polytheism of their fathers (this was a curious blend of folklore, and the polytheism of whatever peoples had recently conquored the area), it was a by-God "OUR THANG!" that gave warring peoples a reason to hate each other less, and hate those who would dominate them more. We call this religion Islam, a word which means 'peace' and 'submission'. This idea that peace and submission are synonymous is a veritable wellspring of conflict that we see today. These muslims wish to see themselves and everyone submitted to God.
When Islam first came about, the people and tribes that were muslim got along well because they had Mohamed, their prophet telling them exactly what to do and how to do it. Mohamed, however, was just a man, and he up and died one day without naming a clear successor. Because the tribes and people who were muslims had conflicts with each other before they got religion, and their religious leader left them alone, there was division and infighting especially because Mohamed kinda hinted that there would be a successor who would help them understand the sayings he had left them.
There are many 'denominations' of Islam, but there's two big ones, and the two big ones dominate our foreign policy:
Sunni - the most numerous, and controllers of Mecca, a hip city in Muslim thinking.
Shi'a - less numerous, but powerful.
It's possible to make some generalizations about the two main groups but remember these are generalizations, and shouldn't be considered absolute:
Sunnis tend to be city folk, and organized by their tribe. There is a strong sense of Group think in Sunni culture.
Shi'as tend to be more rural, and while organized by their tribe, the family unit itself is stronger than the clan or tribe tie. They value indivual thought and action.
Both groups follow the same 5 pillars of Islam, but the Shi'as tend to be easier to talk to about Jesus because of their theology and history concerning their lead prophet Ali.
With that in mind, I want to say, to be continued...

              Ok,
so, Sunnis hate Shi'as, but sometimes they can get along long enough to cause an enemy trouble, like during the crusades. There's a strong sense of honor and action in near eastern cultures (arab, persian, other mesopotamian subgroups like kurds, pastuns, etc.) and there is a lot of pride as well. Their religion requires groupthink though, that is why one of their pillars is to make a pilgrammage at least once to a particular city. It's also why they all pray alike and at the same time of day.
              groupthink, that's important.
occassionally, men will arise in muslim culture who can harness the groupthink and acheive something noteworthy. Mohammed did this initially, and his successors have had various degrees of success. The most noteworthy in my opinion is Sal-al-adin, the guy who lead muslim forces against Richard the Lionhearted in the Crusades. Sal-al-adin was a Kurd born in Tikrit Iraq, and he was an interesting cat. Check out http://www.amazon.com/Warriors-God-R...+Third+Crusade. I've read most of it :) and while I don't agree with the author on everything, it's a good accounting of history.
Nobody has really been as unifying to the Muslim world since then.

              To be continued.

...with extra meat! I think we're being drawn into a middle eastern war preparing to start that we need to stay out of. It's time to pull every resource we have out of every middle eastern country and let our spooks and drones keep tabs on what's going on so none of them have a chance to come up with a weapon that can harm us...and we need to give Israel every bit of support that we can.

That's the shame of it. Our politicians keep us relying on middle eastern oil when we actually get the least amount from them. Most of our oil comes from Canada; 2nd most from Venezuela(if I remember correctly)and the least amount from the middle east. We also buy an enormous amount of refined oil because we don't have enough refineries.

Despite BO's strangling regulations we have oil rigs popping up right and left in Oklahoma and other states like North Dakota. The Bakken formation alone represents five times the amount of oil of all known the middle eastern oil combined. If we were drilling and refining here, as we should be, we'd probably be paying less than a dollar a gallon for gas...as long as we could keep the feds from taxing it like crazy!
