Where Are the Sheepdogs? Aurora, Colorado Shooting
Back Ground Checks to purchase guns in Aurora, CO has gone up 43% this week!
Good to hear that more people are waking up and getting ready to defend themselves. It also sends a message to the anti-gun fanatics, that people don't buy into the myth of disarming society to prevent violence.
Just heard a great news clip:Back Ground Checks to purchase guns in Aurora, CO has gone up 43% this week!
They didnt wake up, they got scared that the man is gonna take'em over this so they want one now, watched them interview for the cameras at the gun store, nothing changed, same sheeple
The one who said it woke him up, doesnt matter, it wont help him if he doesnt have it and knows what to do and even then it's no garauntee outside of you went down on your terms
Knowledge is Power, Practiced Knowledge is Strength, Tested Knowledge is Confidence
I share Okie's cynicism in this matter. I got a buddy in state here who got his carry ticket after O got elected. My buddy wanted to show his support for the 2nd amendment or something. He doesn't carry often. I think his wife carries more than he does. Sometimes he gets on a roll with it, othertimes he's cold to it. Part of it is his personality. He'll be hot cold hot cold hot cold and then he settles on the right side of the issue. We've talked about it at length, and always laff because "he doesn't want to be seen as lukewarm".
I think there are a lot of guys like that right now. We want to show a stable life for our spouses, but we see the world destabilzing before our very eyes.
This really has become an absurd place!
From the Penn State scandal down here to the old man shooting two cowards to Aurora, there is one thing clear:
Most people are :
1. Scared
or
2. Predators
or
3. Ready.
And the scared hold the vote!

BINGO! You hit it right there bub
You know what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like this?
We had an impromptu training session the morning after at work. Of course, we are all law enforcement officers and see things through different eyes than some folks who didn't really want a gun but got a CCW permit "just in case". I carried with a CCW for a long time and that isn't a dig against CCW by any means. Like everything else, some folks are serious about it and some aren't. In my opinion, it falls back to, "If you ain't gonna use it, don't carry it." An armed civilian in that theater might not have stopped the shooting, but he'd dang sure of given the chucklehead something else to think about. Body armor or not, getting shot hurts. An armed civilian could have bought time. Time for law enforcement to get there, time for another armed civilian to react, time for folks to un-*** the building, time for the shooter to re-think his situation. Maybe the CCW holder could have got in a lucky shot, maybe the CCW holder had trained to hit other vulnerable spots on the shooter, maybe... one could maybe that to death. However, getting shot in the back while trying to run away shouldn't be one of those maybes.
I know what I would have done. Some of you do too. We think it out in advance and we plan to engage. There isn't a shred of doubt in my body that I would have engaged him. My wife is also a police officer, if she was with me (and I can't imagine her not being if I'm out that late) we would both have engaged. That's two "something elses" for the shooter to think about. Our kids know to get away from us if something happens... they would have. If my wife wasn't with me, one of my friends would have been. Most of them are cops too... they have guns. If I go somewhere that a friend can't carry his gun because he's a CCW holder, I carry two. My friends know this.
Our training officer at work is extremely proficient in firearms and tactics. I've been to Gunsite, Blackwater and many other shooting schools... he's better than I am. He makes sure that we train for "what-if" type scenarios. Body armor is one of those scenarios. Active shooter scenarios are something we think about and train for. The days of sitting outside and waiting for backup are over. We go in and we go in early. It's no different when we are off duty, with the exception that we are already inside. We know sometimes luck won't be on our side. We know the risks of engaging the subject. Still, that's what we would do.
My intention isn't to criticize the victims in any way, shape or form. Some of them couldn't legally carry a firearm. I don't think it's Monday morning quarterbacking to look at an issue that's happened over and over and say... this always happens in places where we can't carry (schools, churches, hospitals, theaters, etc.). It's time to engage our legislature and turn the tide. If that doesn't work... stop going to those places. If enough people boycott movie theaters because of a stupid rule or law, the rule or law will change. Tell your friends and neighbors to start writing their representatives with pro-gun statutory changes.
Unfortunately, I must agree with you. About 47% of the people in this country do not pay any income taxes or get back more than they pay in taxes. These are the voters the Leftists hope to inspire to vote by promising "free government cheese". Obama and his administration are going to promise money every illegal immigrant, lazy welfare rat, jobless 99+ weeks of unemployment grabbing, single mom w/ multiple babies by unknown daddies-government leech. They will vote for the promise of "Obama Money".
"One cannot but ponder the question: what if the Arabs had been Christians? To me it seems certain that the fatalistic teachings of Mohammed and the utter degradation of women is the outstanding cause for the arrested development of the Arab. He is exactly what he was around the year 700, while we have kept on developing. Here, I think, is a text for some eloquent sermon on the virtues of Christianity." - General George S. Patton, diary, June 9, 1943.
yeah firedawg....training with the big name outfits is good....but you got an ideal whats coming
in that theater caught unaway....you would have been a pop up target
some would have taken the shot...it depends on mindset and attitude, but most wouldn't have
next time there will be an over-reaction....and that gonna be a hard hit on the chl holders
dynamic entries work good when they don't know your coming....but if they expect you....different story
