I have been places that have "unversal health care". UK, France and Hungary and in cases I would rather have my expensive health care here. My wife is Hungarian and they have had this "Free" Health Care for a very long time... But when you go to the doctor or hospital you bring a wade of cash with you and you expect a simple visit to take all day.

#1. The cash is for "tips"... If you dont tip the doctor very well when he walks in, you are NOT going to get good service
#2. The wait is for ever.... Think of the line at the DMV. 10 test givers, 100 people waiting, only 5 people taking a test at a time... If your not there when the doors open you will be there ALL DAY WAITING.
#3. Goverment Red Tape and Goverment policies doing their best to make sure no work actually happens.
#4. Comfort does not matter any more. Your in pain... Oh well you will live. You dont requre LOCAL ANESTHESIA before minor procedures... And sense it is only desired not required the goverment is not going to pay for it... And since the goverment would not pay for it, neither will your goverment sponsered insurance.

So free health care is NOT FREE, and NOT CARING either.

My BIL, a small business owner, predicts that lots of people will lose their current insurance, because it will be cheaper for businesses to pay the fine.

So someone with NO medical insurance, doesn't go to the doc for a sniffle, treats most non life threatening things at home, takes decent care of their health etc........

For those of us who already have a decent policies...
    1. Millions of newly insured will probably make the wait quite a bit longer to get care.
    a. Time spent with doctor will be less, less truly personal care.
    b. Scheduling will be more of an issue, probably more emeregency room visits.
    2. I am personally afraid that assembly line health care will cause Drs. to miss new medical issues, allowing them to slide by until they become major.

I understand there maybe an increase in co-pay in the long run - That will no doubt come in the near future.

All in all, I don't forsee big changes for my wife and I right now.

Ok I'll bite and use some numbers. 2 person family 1 income no kids.

    36,000 Gross Annual Salary

    21,600 Net Annual

    1800 Bring home/month
    -535 Rent
    1265
    -109 Car Insurance
    1156
    -125 Utilities Elec/Gas
    1031
-600 Health Ins. Required by Obamacare this was the premium at last job back in 2007
    431
    -265 Student Loan Payment
    166
    -100 Car Gas
    66
-125 Food to eat for a month
    - 59 in the hole

This leaves out a phone and/or cell phone, no internet, no hygiene products (eww stinky), no clothes, and a whole slew of other items...$600 premium or pay the $200/month fine.

I haven't heard of one persons premiums going down...has anyone else?

started a topic So let's lay it out

    So let's lay it out

How exactly is the new obama (lack of) care health plan going to affect you?

Let's take a standard has insurance from their job type person and
a family with no medical insurance that self pays.

Break it down dollar for dollar, every piece that will be crammed down our throats.
Working...
