    We're 60-65, and this is our third time prepping. The first time we ended up going to seminary and ate our stash for three years. The second time we moved to a new location and left our 18 yr. old son behind- he lived off the stash for two years. This time we're preparing for most of our family, as well as ourselves.
    By the way- God doesn't take us out of bad situations, He just walks with us through it! And with all the signs warning us to prepare- we'd be stupid not to. Lessons learned!

        45-50 Have been at it for about 10 years. The wife has just come on board in the last 2.5 in great part do to Obama, she has even been getting in on conversations with other friends that prep.

          57.....i've been doing it since 1975....something to keep the mind occupied....and i have used my preps a few times in hard times....great insurance

            I'm 34 and started 3 weeks ago. I live Port Elizabeth, South-Africa. It's a coastal city but I grew up inland in the Karoo.
            We have no earthquakes, tornado, hurricanes etc. over here.... we have people.

            I'm still trying to get my head around prepping. How to start, what to focus on and how to get my wife on board.

              I think you will find that there are talkers and then there are doers. If you go to the Preparedness Expos since the old days of Y2K and on you see more of the 40 plus crowd buying and storing. I am not talking good old days syndrome here. Reality is a lot of the young folks we see are so deep in debt they cannot see beyond tomorrow morning. Preparedness really needs to be a family thing with it being parent to child and so on. I help my kids get started and hope they will help theirs if things don't go south on all of us soon. GB

                Getting your spouse on board is talked about quite a bit on this forum as well as in a couple of the podcasts. Do a search and I am sure you will find something. Start with the basics, you will need food and water...everyone needs to eat and drink...how would you defend what your family/food/water? Also look into self sufficiency. How would you feed your family if you lost your job? What about massive civil riots, pandemic, war, _______ ?

                    Debt is an extremely difficult hurdle to leap over. i went in debt at age 20 when i bought my first computer and havnt been out sense. if all goes as planned finally now at age 36 i will be out of debt in October (except for the house). The amount of money i have wasted on interest is frightening.
