I went to the Tri-City Gun Club for a day of training yesterday. I absolutely loved it! I took my daughter and a friend with me as well and all learned a lot. I think there were at least 100 women there and it was great to see all those women learning to protect themselves and having a fun time doing it.
We were shown how to shoot shotguns, 22 rifles, AR15's, and several handguns. It was great to be able to try all of those weapons and get instructions on each one. I definitely improved with each weapon. Most of the instructors were men and is was so awesome to see that they really take us women and our safety seriously. They took the time to answer every question and offered information about each weapon. They gave additional instruction on how to improve my shooting with each weapon. I had never shot the AR15 before and I have to say, I REALLY like that gun!
They supplied all the weapons and ammo as well as a really good lunch. There was a drawing for lots of prizes and I won a T-shirt :-) There was also a lecture given about our personal safety. It was nice to have the time to sit and ask questions and learn about things that can help keep us safe.
We spent the whole day there at the gun club learning and enjoying ourselves for very little money.
I'm already planning to attend again next year.
Ladies, take the initiative to keep yourself safe. Take classes like this and ask lots of questions. If there is any way you can make it to the WOT at the Tri-City Gun Club next year, do it! These folks really want to help us learn.
If you men want to keep your women safe, you need to enable them to take care of themselves. You can do that by supporting and encouraging them to take classes like this. Take the women in your life on a little vacation to Oklahoma and make sure they attend WOT while you are here.
