Here is what I know Weather Forecasters and Economists can be wrong and still keep their jobs.

I don't even bother with reading half of this stuff anymore...become desensitized or jaded or both, so I focus on prepping and living and like you I look to the Almighty. Reading all these articles will only cause me unnecessary anxiety. I have a healthy respect for the scenarios that we all have discussed, as we should, so I focus on doing what I know I should be doing. This gives me peace and I also read the back of the book, we win!!

News Alert: Housing Starts are up

New unemployment requests drop by 13K

My state has high unemployment too....which is why I always point anyone looking for work to Dan Millers FREE 48 Business Ideas pdf which can be found here:

Lets instead of listening to the doom and gloom start helping one another by sharing ideas of how you can start a small business. Help others get involved in "The Great Recovery" http://www.thegreatrecovery.com/home/ which is a movement about teaching people personal finance God's way. Lets do something...reading the doom and gloom won't help our neighbors or family or this country. Obviously we need to be honoring God and praying for our leaders (whether or not we agree with them). Prayer and lots of it!!

I think it's right to trust in God too, but I also watch the weather news to see what's coming. I don't freak out when I see a storm coming. I do however grab my coat and umbrella. You don't have to lock yourself up in the panic room. Of course you go live life. But in my opinion it's better to know what's coming your way than to stick your head in the sand.

I carry my umbrella with me :) Don't misunderstand me, I don't stick my head in the sand, I just have more important things to do than to spend too much time reading all the doom and gloom articles about things that I have no control over. I prefer to help others by spreading knowledge that can change their personal economy. Each person that I can help by giving them some knowledge that can improve their economy improves everyone's economy, albeit small and some would argue insignificant but I would say it isn't insignificant to the person. I spend about 30 secs. looking at the weather...hardly 2 minutes with the "If it Bleeds It Leads" news shows...rather help people here on the forums and in my community than to listen to all the doom and gloom because I am having an impact and so can all of us if we focus.

One of the channels we enjoy out here in the boonies is RFD-TV ("Rural America's Most Important Network"), not only for the equestrian shows, but more importantly the farm shows. This Week In Agribusiness, and The US Farm Report come on every Saturday morning and by paying attention one can learn a lot that is prepping related. Great to know that peanut butter or pasta prices are going to climb so you can lay in an extra supply before they do, for example. (We did)
If your satelite or cable provider carries RFD-TV, you ought to give it a look. Especially those two shows noted above.
Also food related, this morning's paper noted the cattle herd this year is the smallest since the 50's. Beef prices, which already went up 23% between Dec 2010 and Dec 2011 are expected to climb 10% per year in 2012 and 2013. (Glad we got that deer in the freezer)
These are the type things I pay most attention to because it directly affects my budget.

Yes those are important things to pay attention to.

TPTB will keep things propped up until the election. The fa
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

the last big Depression really started in Europe and then spread worldwide. People don't want to look at that big Dam just up the creek from them. Those cracks in it are just not really there. No one wants to admit that their way of life may be in danger. Most Americans have never seen real poverty. At least half of the people in this country believe that the government will take care of them from Cradle to Grave. You will never reach those people. There will be a lot of people die in the first six months after it all falls apart. Those who can get through the first six months still alive will have the best shot long term. those who have prepared for at least a year should be in great shape. Population will be thinned out dramatically in a year's time. Not a cheerful thought but the truth. GB
