Crazy radiation guy- not gonna bother. Poster boy for the weird stereotype the media has of us... And he played right into it, "crazy eyes" and everywhere.

Family near Atlanta- have the money, get da fudge out! The hood rats are not just going to burn da hood, they are going to move out. Suzy Soccor Mom next door WILL sell you out to them once a knife is at her throat, hell she'll probably think she'll get a little bit of your stuff also.

Have the means to get out of dodge now- DO IT. A room full of food is great and the dogs are awful pretty, but they are all going to be worthless due to LOCATION.

Colorado shelter guy- pushing shelters, seems like their is always someone pushing something on there.

I guess we need to hit the "polar shift" market??? Do people really fear/prepare for such far fetched stuff? Yet I teach about nuclear war survival for years and hear "I don't want to try to survive THAT" wtf?
You should sell "bubble boy suits" on JRH....that way if there is a polar shift, you get in one of these with a few preps and it will take you wherever you want to go unharmed.....and whats funny is.......people will buy this stuff!

The Mike dude has a good plan. The dogs, the food, the weapons, and the leaves/newspaper mache charcoal balls was pretty cool....but, man, you live ( I know where you live) in a dang neighborhood. I can bet 10 buckets of pintos that 90% of that neighborhood has only enough food to last them a week. Add in a few firearms here and there and you could have a MOB. Well buddy boy, you just put it alllllll out there.
It seems as if you and your wife make good money, so I would suggest moving. 45 miles north is a good from Craptlanta but you can be firebombed and raided just as fast as I can do a cartwheel (I can do this, its ugly though)

I think he is one of about 4 families on this show that have it together, the rest are jokes...bad jokes. He has his family involved and they train together. But as all of us have said, OPSEC and this show is just putting targets on peoples back. Lessons are being learned though....on what and what not to do. I have seen some cool stuff and some stuff that made me shake the dandruff out of my hair. I am not perfect and I dont have a "Mountain Home" type of setup but I know common sense (protus rant anyone :) )

    But these plant guys..........

Anyone see the previews for Doomsday Bunkers? I guess its supposed to piggyback off of the preppers show. This may be better because it seems they are going to talk about how to construct these "bunkers" so there may be some learnin here. But I still think people that go on these shows are clowns and only out to get fame. I guarantee, the people that have revealed themselves on these shows will be targets either from the gubmit or from people that know who they are but arent part of the group.

My wife got to see 5 mins of one of these shows last night, it was the "POLAR SHIFT TSUNAMI FAMILY"....her words.." Do they realize that everyone knows what they have and what they look like?" Even the walker-by can tell this.

My wife went off on the lack of skilled labor and unwillingness to allow them in and the you might have "to work 4 hrs sitting at the security desk". Them silver spoons are gonna be hurting when stuff starts breaking and going down. It's just another "you can buy your way outta this issue" ordeal. There's nothing wrong with having money but if you have to go there and live in a silo the playing field is gonna level off real quick like and someone who can hunt, build or Dr is gonna be a whole lot more valuable than a talk show host, a stock broker, actor etc.

Evidence of beneficial side to Doomsday Preppers

I have these DVR'ed and have been watching them in snippets, usually while my wife is showering after putting the kids to bed. Once she comes down and is ready to settle in, I usually switch it to something more to her tastes. Nonetheless, she's ended up watching a bit of it, and like me joins in on some of the scoffing at the absurdities of some of the folks (or at least in the manner they are presented).

She even said once (early on) "I don't think this is the kind of show you should be watching, since you're already a little nutty about this stuff anyway." Not that she objects to my (limited so far) preps, and is eagerly awaiting her delayed anniversary gift of a mossburg 930 spx automatic 12 gauge.

However, yesterday evening she was loading a bunch of tin-canned tomatoes into our small (civilian*) pantry. She had been to Costco that day, so i didn't take much notice, being more interested in the $case of wine she had bought. But a bit later she says to me:

    "That stupid show!"

    "What show?"

    "That doomsday show"

    "What's wrong with it?"

"I ending up spending $400 at costco today on extra canned goods!"

So it can help the un- (or partially-) converted, despite its many flaws.

*that is, our every day pantry, not where i've put some buckets in storage
