The bigger problem is the "status" it will give guys like Dsarti. No I don't mean popularity and all that.

Think about this- we have all seen how gullible new people can be sometimes- "oh I heard sheetrock dust is great to put in with my food, some guy that packed six buckets told me that!" type of retardedness.

Now, some of these folks that obviously aren't very experienced are "stars on the big screen." Suddenly in the new person's eyes they are "authority figures." Just like in the very first ep the lady from suburbia with the bad food storage advice.....

Let's not forget we have a whole generation PLUS that thinks everything they see on TV is real and true.
So they see a couple of duds on a show like this, see a few cans of beanie weenies- "Wow this guy is squared away, I heard he's on youtube...."

See where it goes from there? That's my bigger concern. Still wasn't worth accepting their offer from a couple years ago or last fall though. Might be good for some of these new folks to finally learn some creative thinking skills anyways :)

I do find it ironic and highly entertaining that so many folks willingly took the moniker of "prepper" versus SURVIVALIST (what we really are) because of the stigma the media had made around survivalists.

Guess what? See enough fatties that are made to look like retards on TV shows like this and more people are going to want to go back to being called Survivalists.

    "What's in a name?" LOL

People like me that are only 2 years in may not be able to keep up if that happens.

But these shows are cool because it does give you the visual instead of just reading it. I will watch just to watch.

I wonder how many armchair commandos and mall ninjas come out of the woodwork? From what I hear World of Warcraft isnt fun anymore
when you watch the series you will see there are plenty they found to fill the role....

    the 1st episode(this season)
    has 3 people-
a man/wife/family- the live on a BOL ,with a group. lots of preps.. Lots of wtf when it comes to some weapons stuff.
a man who is a eat the weeds, live off the land type. he does slip up when the "experts" chime in and say " who said i dont have that already in place/planned"- so he may have been keeping his real plans under wraps.
a young women- megan- crazy eyed newb ......

I believe National Geographic lets you watch their shows after they have aired via internet streaming, so you should be able to watch it just a few days after we watch it on the boob tube. =)

I'll watch it once it comes to the internet. I really believe that you can learn something from everyone. It might be "what NOT to do." But, you can learn something. :)

    OMG
The Dsarti guy. I knew I knew him from somewhere!
I was looking for youtube vids about ham radio, and this guy was ranting about Japanese radio prices going up.
    and old hams sending email.
    I remember thinking:
    "Rule #1 Cardio"
