I stumbled across this in another forum and thought it might be useful here.
1. As a dry shampoo. Whether you're camping in the wild (far-removed
from hot showers) or just in a hurry, baby powder is all your hair
needs. Just rub a handful into your hair and leave to settle for a few
minutes. Then run a comb through thoroughly. Result: a fresh-smelling
and great-looking head of hair. (This method is also recommended for
grooming your dog.)
2. To absorb grease. If you get a grease splatter or oil spill on your
clothes, try dabbing at the stain with some baby powder. The trick is
to rub it in well, then brush off the excess powder. Repeat until the
stain disappears.
3. To clean your playing cards. If you travel with your deck, then
this one may come in handy. To stop your cards sticking together,
place the cards in a plastic bag with a bit of powder. Seal the bag
and give it a few good shakes. Feel how fresh and smooth your cards
are as you remove them.
4. To untie a knot. You know how necklaces can get knotted in your
luggage? Or maybe your shoelaces tend to do the same... If you're
having trouble undoing a knot of any kind, just sprinkle on some baby
powder to help loosen it. You should then be able to unravel it
easily.
5. Freshen your shoes. After a day on your feet, sprinkle some powder
into your shoes at night. They'll smell fresh the next day, and your
feet won't stick inside them.
