  • Baby Powder

I stumbled across this in another forum and thought it might be useful here.

    1. As a dry shampoo. Whether you're camping in the wild (far-removed
from hot showers) or just in a hurry, baby powder is all your hair
needs. Just rub a handful into your hair and leave to settle for a few
minutes. Then run a comb through thoroughly. Result: a fresh-smelling
and great-looking head of hair. (This method is also recommended for
    grooming your dog.)

    2. To absorb grease. If you get a grease splatter or oil spill on your
clothes, try dabbing at the stain with some baby powder. The trick is
to rub it in well, then brush off the excess powder. Repeat until the
    stain disappears.

    3. To clean your playing cards. If you travel with your deck, then
this one may come in handy. To stop your cards sticking together,
place the cards in a plastic bag with a bit of powder. Seal the bag
and give it a few good shakes. Feel how fresh and smooth your cards
    are as you remove them.

    4. To untie a knot. You know how necklaces can get knotted in your
luggage? Or maybe your shoelaces tend to do the same... If you're
having trouble undoing a knot of any kind, just sprinkle on some baby
powder to help loosen it. You should then be able to unravel it
    easily.

    5. Freshen your shoes. After a day on your feet, sprinkle some powder
into your shoes at night. They'll smell fresh the next day, and your
    feet won't stick inside them.

It's a must have in the go bag. I carry the travel size because my days of the road marches are over and chaff is a given. I avoid the ones with strong perfume smells because they alert animals and attract bugs. Plain ole cornstartch is the ticket for current hunters and those who will be the longhunter or trader. It also can be used to detect wind wether it's for hunting or avoidance of dogs etc during travels.

There are several anit-chafing gels out there that work great too. This one is a "woman's" product, but there are also products like BodyGlide too. The one for women turns from a gel to a very smooth powder - works really well. http://www.drugstore.com/monistat-so...-gel/qxp139254

During GA Summers I LIVE FOR BABY POWDER!!!

And like Matt, the travel size stays in all packs that I have, hell I even have a travel size in my glovebox. But now I know I can wash my hair (what lil I have left) with it.
You know what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like this?

Baby powder with corn starch in AL is a necessity. Am storing it like crazy as I can get it Fred's (discount) for $1.25 for large size. Also will store small sizes for travel and trade.
