Black Friday Disgust

Anyone watching the new in the last 24 hours can't help but have heard about the violence, rioting, and general mayhem surrounding the sales. I remember going to these sales 20 years ago and having fun, now it would take something very serious to get me out of the house on Black Friday.

Just watching the surge of people trying to buy a TV or an XBox is beyond my understanding. You take you life in your hands.

While watching this I couldn't help but imagine my local grocery store, or Sams, or Costcos if the SHTF. Fighting such a crowd would be almost impossible.

This is a lesson for stocking up NOW! For planning and implementing a food storage program that includes buying something every single month to put away.

Economically, things are really very very scary. American's may not be in the mood to hear it, but terrible times are coming. Watching the stock market and the European situation, anyone who isn't worried is a fool.

I plan on seriously doubling my monthly prepping budget. I can certainly do without a fancy lunch, or dinner out, or movie tickets now so that those I love can eat later.

It is disgusting MB. My wife and I were on the verge of going out, she wanted to get a couple items for the boys and I wanted to video tape idiots. But we found out there will be waaaay better deals online over the next month.

In the town I used to live in, a lot of my friends went out to the wally world and target and kohls and toys r us and didnt see much mayhem. Everyone was respectful to say the least. But, at the Wally World a fist fight did break out over some coffee makers. Now imagine in the PAW, over a bag of rice. When I broke this scenario down for my wife and the few people that I am getting on the prepping bandwagon, they realized how bad it could get.

People have lost it and I dont think they are ever going to find it.

One person was shot and robbed after purchasing the items just as when this last video game was released recently. So even if you win the battle in the store your fight may just have begun when it comes to a bag of rice or whatever.
It's a sad senerio that is deeds supposed to be done in the name of CHRIST!

I did go out, wife wanted that TV in Wally's flyer, got to store, THEY ONLY HAD 4 PER STORE and my store one lady bought 2 of them. LMAO the saleman said all 4 were sold in 30 seconds after the sale started. I couldn't stop laughing at how "underhanded" wally is to have only 4 of the biggest sale item at each store. Anyways, picked up new hard case for wife's new AR. Bought 750rds of bulk 9mm (for wife), 250rds of 45 (for me), and 300rds of 12ga 7 1/2 shot. All and all I still went home with a smile on my face. Even though I didnt get the mrs her new tv.

This is very frightening to see people fighting over non-essential items like this. MB, I am right there with you--it is time to start prepping twice as fast.

Wow! Only 4 - that just stinks! We wanted one of the 40", and we got it (our old TV was on its last legs). DH was about 1/3 down the line. The store had 55. I don't know how many of the 32" ones they had, but I saw bunches of them in carts. Several people bought two or three. I know they had 46 of the computers that were priced at $248. I was actually impressed at how much of the sale items they did have - especially with the "while supplies last" disclaimer.

I have always loved Black Friday, but MB is right there is certainly a PAW lesson to be learned. There was a catfight over some cheap pay as you go phones at our local WalMart.

My wife and daughter went to the midnight mass (confusion) at the local Wally World. Some items were not available until certain times, i.e., waffle irons at 2 AM, Tvs at 2:30. They told me that workers were standing guard to make sure no one took the items until the proper time while shoppers stood with their hands on items.
While watching the reports of mayhem on Faux News this morning, I too wondered what would happen in a SHTF situation with food. I believe Katrina is the best example. God help us.

Our wally world didnt get any of the computers.
The 4 tvs was the BIG BOY 65".
Our store had a TON of the 19" and 32" ones, they ran out of the 46s and 55s too before I had a chance to get one.

I tend to look at Black Friday as a Black eye on America. This one day shows me and the world that one day can show how messed up a nation is. I tend to call this Black-Eye Friday. ;)

However, recently I am more attuned and paying attention to what happens on this day. Although, we are seeing people spend money in a down economy, it is the disregard for human life and safety that I find sickening. But this year as past years, I take note and stock of what is seen and televised. And this year shows me something a little different than previous years.

This year I noticed, that although no one has died (yet???) from Black Friday... I did notice that several, if not all of the incidents that occurred, featured some sort of weapon or disabling device (pepper spray, mace...). This shows me that next year will be a day that I will spend in my home and not going out. Although, there is a lot of events next year at this time, I say to prep and pay heed to all the world events going on constantly.

Black friday is but one symptom of the continuing moral breakdown happening in this once great nation.
Monkeybird is right on target - if/when the government entitlements are curtailed to save what's left of the economy, things will get very ugly.
